Newcastle's Premier League season continued with a one-all against bottom side Aston Villa at St James' Park on Saturday in the late live Sky Sports game.

At half time, in the pouring rain, after Fabricio Coloccini had scored from close range shortly before the break Newcastle were on for a third successive win but this couldn't be seen out with Aston Villa hitting back in the second half.

Jordan Ayew fine finish into the top corner saw the points shared, both pushed for a winner but this wasn't found yet Newcastle, who could have moved five-points clear of the bottom three with a win, would still certainly in their position than Aston Villa's, as they're stranded at the bottom of the table 10-ponts from safety!

These were the other results.

Chelsea quite possibly, some would say probably, would have beaten Sunderland as they did anyway with the post-Jose Mourinho era beginning with a three-one win for the Champions at Stamford Bridge but it's Leicester, who beating the Blues that ended his second spell, that will be top at Christmas after a three-two win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Bournemouth did Man United the week before and this time round they won again with a two-one win at West Brom, the 'surprise' defeat United suffered at Bournemouth last Saturday was most definitely bettered by Norwich's shocking of the Red Devils at Old Trafford with the Canaries going away with a two-one win!

What a result for Watford! The great new era under Jurgen Klopp wasn't meant to be this way with Liverpool suffering another heavy defeat with the Hornets stinging the Reds three-nil at Vicarage Road to keep their fine season on track.
