Wijnaldum Eases The Pressure!

2 - 0

St James' Park

Attendance: 51,273

Newcastle's Premier League season continued with a (much needed) win against Liverpool at St James' Park on Sunday.

Was it a Georginio Wijnaldum double or a Martin Skrtel own goal and a Wijnaldum goal? In many ways it doesn't really matter does it, the main thing was NUFC won two-nil to 'ease the pressure' on Steve McClaren.

A little past the midway stage of the second half Wijnaldum's strike deflected off Skrtel and past Simon Mignolet with a breakaway goal late on seeing (and no questions about this) the Dutchman secure the points.

In the first half Alberto Moreno was, wrongly, called offside as he thought he broke the deadlock with NUFC making the most of this break! His shot that ended up in the net was probably a cross anyway....

The other results this weekend were as follows:-

Saturday 5th December
Stoke 2-0 Man City
Arsenal 3-1 Sunderland
Man Utd 0-0 West Ham
Southampton 1-1 Aston Villa
Swansea 0-3 Leicester
Watford 2-0 Norwich
West Brom 1-1 Tottenham
Chelsea 0-1 Bournemouth

Sunday 6th December 2015
Newcastle 2-0 Liverpool

Before this round of games are over we've got one more game on Monday:-

Monday 7th December 2015
Everton v Crystal Palace 20:00

Looking at these results (so far) the stand out ones have to be the wins for Stoke and Bournemouth, putting side the NUFC one!

Man City losing at Stoke, with the Potters running out two-nil winners was topped, even though they've been 'struggling' this season as it, by Bournemouth becoming the latest side to win at Stamford Bridge when the Cherries scored late on to beat Chelsea one-nil!
