Well should be grateful for a point gained. Palace should have won by a mile second half.
Will be slaughtered if we play like that against Man U.
Looks as though it's grabbing points when you can time.
No doubt Rafa will say it was a difficult game againet a good side and we battled well for a point.
We know we were lucky and Palace wasted chances.
Is it me but once we score we seem to go defensive for some reason. Benitez mind set I think.

So Clark gets slated for doing something in the box that 99% of other defenders do but in our case, we're usually one of the only ones to get done for these sort of things and his excellent double block is forgotten about in that scramble?

Aside from their lucky pen, they never got close with us having something like 80% of our shots on target and them about 20%. 1-1 was probably fair.

Shelvey was shit and the usual passenger or ball watcher with Dummett or Lascelles our best player.

Well I don't see it that way and Clark gets flak because he is too often making stupid errors. True, a good double block but he is not Premiership quality neither are most of the rest.
Time will tell.

1 is never enough at this level and we know that, should’ve been two up, that said better result for us than them, just lucky there’s so many shite teams this year, an awful league.

That's the point, we've very few premier quality players but Rafa has them competing for large parts to make it look like we are competent.

If we get Slimani hitting the ground running then he could be the difference between this going to the final week or the deck chairs coming out a couple of games earlier.

I'm happy with a point.

We have thrown away four points in the last two games though, with them we would be in 11th place.

Sitting back at all costs could be the reason we get relegated.

Dummett was superb . Shelvey looked decent for half an hr and then went back to lazy till the last 15 of the game . Lascelles handled Benteke well. Diame also looked good first half (not just the goal) but faded badly . Kennedy looks a player and Perez worked hard to try and link midfield and attack without much success. Yedlin's not good enough defensively at this level. Ritchie and particularly Gayle look shot physically and mentally. Look at the goals we concede and see how many times Clark's lost his man or fucked it up.

I agree. The home form is partly down to the one man uptop, now we haven't the personnel (until perhaps Slimani starts) to play two but a top manager has to find a way of being more potent at home.

The sky commentators are making a big deal about Shelvey's shirt pulling whilst in the very same frame one of their players is literally strangling Clark with his own top.

Current form (last eight league games) has us in 10th position with 10 points gleaned from those 8 games. It could have been a tad better but our Championship team is finding it hard going.

Palace were the better side but what should we expect. Have we got a player on our books who would get in their team? All that said I thought the penalty was a bit harsh. You could give 5 every game like that.

I think Lascelles would have a chance, maybe Kenedy, or did you mean permanent players?.

I thought we looked better than them until the defensive mentality kicked in.

Yeah both decent shouts mate, maybe Dummet too. But on the whole I would say man for man they have got better than us (almost) all over the pitch and on the bench. Its a disgrace for a tosspot little club like Palace to be able to say that imho.

Aye I do tend to watch our games with rose tinted specs,I still think at 0-1 up Kennedy then Perez could have had us out of sight.

Regardless two points lost is a bitter pill to swallow especially when you see how their pen only just squeezed in.

It is mate, and for me it was a soft pen too. Its already been said many times but if you are gonna give penalties for pushing and pulling in the box you have to be ready to give 10 every game until players get the message. As was highlighted on MOTD there was a worse incident of the same thing just after, I am sure there were many others in that game and every other fixture.

Cheers.

My reason for not including Dummett is that man for man, van Aanholt looks 20 times better going forward.

I keep marvelling as to how with Benteke, Zaha and Townsend, not to mention Cabaye, neither Pards nor Woy could get them a lot higher.

I think I can shed some light on this, Cabaye, Townsend and Benteke are all shithouses who turn up when it suits them. Zaha's a great player in my opinion, needs good players around him.
