Chelsea v Newcastle F A Cup

Apparently Rafa's plan is to defend and if we are still in the game later on try and go for a winner. Unlikely we will keep Chelsea out.
This is negative to me, if true, and spells another early Cup exit. Meanwhile WBA smack in three against Liverpool

This game is just an unnecessary distraction ahead of the Burnley match imo.

West Broms win at Liverpool should give those who care hope though and Mr Pardew might even be instrumental in inspiring our manager.

Especially if Rafa reads this little gem of a statement.

after complaints from fans of a lack of attacking football under previous manager Tony Pulis, the new boss said he set his side up to be fearless at Anfield.

"It was a really professional, positive performance from us. We played without fear, which you have to do here. I set them up that way"

I reckon we'll not play so deep but we'll have a back 5 with wing backs. The Burnley game on Wednesday will dictate the 2nd half plan as well.

What will be interesting is the reference Rafa made to those who are looking for moves, not getting a start. That rules out Mitrovic but could be anyone else including Shelvey and Gayle

There are 11 teams within 2 wins of the bottom of the table.

Surely even an idiot can see that a bit of quality up front can make a huge difference.

Gayle or Mitro plus £10m means we wouldn't have to rely on a Stoke City reserve striker.

Does Ashley aspire to reach idiot status?

edit - wrong thread but hey, the transfer market overshadows the match at the moment!

Defence looks shaky, Hazard will roast Manquillo and attack looks powder puff.
Hope Rafa does not leave it too late with subs.

Dwight Gayle is firmly in the Cieran Clark club of players found out at this level, along with half our side mind.

Nothing up front and destroyed on the flanks.
That's it then another defeat on the cards or can you see us scoring a couple?
Is Ashley there?

The sad thing is that chelsea where there for the taking but you have no chance without a goalscorer

Yep, probably had more of the possession, but means nothing when you don’t have a striker and no urgency from the midfield to get into the box when we do move upfield.

Whether it flatters them or not it is totally predictable.
Defence a shambles and a non existent attack. We could not even beat a non league side with this team.
You know even if we create chances they normally will not be taken.
Chelsea do not score hatful a but I predict 5 in this one at least.
Might shake Ashley/Charnley up if it's a heavy defeat.

If Ashley waits until after the Burnley match its too late.
I would expect Rafa to walk if his promised signings are not made else I would have no faith in him.

With Chelsea's recent poor form they really couldn't have wished for any other team to roll into town than the famously inadequate Newcastle United. They've not even had to get out of first gear,

There's a huge lack of quality, We went there not to lose too heavily but in the end 3-0 is a bit of a humping. We've just not get any quality in the final third and I can't see more than 1 point from Burnley and Palace. We pretty much deserve to go down because we add absolutely nothing football wise to the PL.
