Anybody on here a wine drinker i just cant get away with it, the french drink it like water but red wine tastes of vinegar to me even the good stuff and i remember trying to look trendy in a wine bar back in the day and drinking white wine which was like paint stripper. Where im grafting is supposedly a wine region and the bloke im working for keeps trying to get me to drink some but its not for me fucking love the cheese and bread and the pate have put on half a stone in the time i have been there.

I drink a bottle a night, just to keep my cholesterol levels down.

The French are no longer as good at wine making as they think - better climates in the Americas and Australia. having said that, like bad beer if you have ever lived in London, you keep drinking and your palate adapts after forgetting what good stuff is like.

I've been in France for the last 3 weeks MM, up in Normandy. They go daft for whisky up here.
Home tomorrow, can't wait.

Same here, don't see the attraction of wine, rather have a pale full of lager!!!

I can’t stand wine. Lots if decent boozers shutting down here in London and opening up later as wine bars and craft beer bars. Can’t stand craft beer either, and not at £6 a pint.

I struggle with lager. Drink of choice would be real bitter, which it is when I go out/play golf/stagger around a football pitch. Wine has its place, as above to reduce cholesterol, avoid weight gain and to sleep like a log. However, avoid French which, like many football clubs, lives off past glories.

Your mention of reduced cholesterol is interesting Rexn. I used to like the odd glass of Aussie Shiraz or Jacobs Creek

Yes, Mac, I was at a cardiology conference a few years ago when a couple of nurses were using attendees as a part of a study they were doing.

At the time, I was fry up breakfasts, fish and chips loads of other things as part of the diet. My cholesterol was lower than any they had found. It's a small sample being just me but other trials would seem to suggest the same.

I started drinking red wine after going through a medical dictionary to prepare for a healthcare job. Reading around cholesterol, I thought it seemed like a good idea. I stopped reading the dictionary when I realised that the next big word was cirrhosis.

Red wine is my main thing these days. Mainly southern hemisphere although I am partial to one or two Italian or Spanish wines.
