A new name tonight. Michael Krmencik. A striker from the Czech Republic.

Only three more days of this and then it's repeat to fade in the Summer again.

Good that Feyenoord have cottoned on. Instead of allowing this charade to last until the last dregs of the window, theyve set a deadline of tonight.

It may eventually set the wheels in motion for some kick off on Wednesday night. Maybe not.

It'll be lower than the last alleged bid then.

Just for what it is worth, there are 9 direct flights from Amsterdam to Newcastle before the transfer deadline. There are 4 from Rotterdam via London. Ashley's helicopter could be busy, flying him from Shirebrook to London so he can have a pint and a laugh with Joe Kinnear.

I will be surprised if anyone comes in before the deadline, and amazed if Ashley ever sells the club. As soon as the new TV money is announced he will just up the price. He is a chancer (amongst other things), always offer 30% less than people want when buying and ask for 30% more than they will pay when selling.

With Sturridge a last minute loan attempt, a fit version would be an absolute yes. See what happens.

George Caulkin is the only reporter I tend to believe regarding things Newcastle. If this is true and we do get Sturridge it would be a great signing for me.
World Cup coming up,he will play every game.Dont know the exact stats but I bet his playing record was good leading up to the last Euros.
The only negative with this report is that we were told money was there for a signing that would break the transfer record. Is this news just hovering about to let the fact we wont break the record be quietly brushed under the carpet.

The Sturridge thing makes a lot of sense. Since we have ManU, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea left to play, any points that we take of those will help Liverpool in their Champions League bid.

Knowing Ashley, he might just use that as an argument for Liverpool to pay NUFC for Sturridge coming here, would could blow it completely.

Having said that, the fees and wages are reported to be in the region of £4m which could be a cheap way to guarantee survival.

If he goes there, I would insist on an investigation into this...

A Paddy Power spokesman said: “We had a female punter from Birmingham (where he was born) try to have £4,000 on Sturridge to go to West Brom at 66/1 yesterday.

Typical shambolic Charnley transfer window. The man is totally out of his depth and should be sharpening pencils in the office.
Supposed targets switched every day when in reality they are not serious or professional about any dealings.
What a mess.

Ok, let's get real, just because Sturridge want's to go back home to Birmingham, shows he has no ambition, he realises Rafa will find him out for the waster he is, we matched everthing needed for the move..

He is the one turning us down..

I can just hear Pards telling Sturridge "believe me ................"

Meanwhile, Charnley has narrowed it down to 2 places in the sharpener as to where he should put the pencil, wondering why the big hole isn't big enough to fit his finger in.

Thoughts on Sturridge :

1: He's better than what we've got
2: Ashley won't pay the wages
3: He's only consistently scored with Suarez (when not racially abusing folk or biting them) doing all the donkey work and Raheem Sterling's pace ripping the vast majority of the league a new arsehole.
4: He's made of glass
5: Ashley won't pay the wages
6: Been at Liverpool, Chelsea (where Benitez didn't give him a minute of action) and Manchester City and never really nailed down a place (yes he's far better than what we've got) or settled.
7: Lazy git
8: Ashley won't pay the wages, although I'm hearing Liverpool are prepared to let him be loaned out and still cover as much as half his earnings.
9: Which would leave him on £75'000 a week which I don't know if I've mentioned but Ashley won't pay .
10: Lee Charnley's involved so if by some miracle we do a deal before the final minute of deadline day he'll fax the local pizzeria by mistake.

Its easy to poke fun at Charnley but I suspect he is doing exactly the job his boss pays him to do, the absolute minimum to keep Rafa from blowing a main gasket.

Fair point. However, I can understand why he may have got the job. In Ashley's version of The Apprentice, if asked what he has ever achieved at the football club, Charnley would have to say "nothing". That suits Ashley's criterion - "Charnley, you're hired".

They are all following instructions.Only one man to blame for the state of our club.Only one man been here through all the shite. One man and thats Ashley.Dont lay the blame anywhere else.Losing out to West Brom.He wont even be guaranteed a game there.Rodriguez and Rondon will be above him and he still chose to go.Wouldve been 1st choice here.Players in the game know the state of our club and what goes on here.
Pains me to say it every time I do but I really want us to go down.I want a massive tv deal dangled in front of him, relegation and him not seeing a penny.

An idle thought, since Ashley is not getting his £30m Brixton deal, he could scupper the Sturridge thing by bidding £30m for Ings, leaving Sturridge needed as cover at Anfield. Tat's one way to piss of both Sturridge and Pardew.

I dare you, Mike, show us just how nasty you can be!

Charnley does exactly what the fat puppet master wants him to do - fuck all! Put a couple of half arsed bids in here and there just to say 'we tried'. The man has no authority, he can't do anything without that parasitic leech giving him approval. Charnley is just a gormless shit deflector and in Ashley eyes he's doing the job superbly.

This club is not only a joke but an embarrassment to football. Once again Ashley leaves things to the last minute and even then he won't dip his hand in his pocket.

Think I'm pretty much done with NUFC until that fat fucking cunt fucks off.

Who said I want any business done early and then it must be done by the 20th. Benitez.
Me thinks he must be happy taking the money because they have not provided him with what he wanted in the time he wanted and now they are scrambling around making supposed bids for anyone who has scored a goal.
They are all pathetic and I hope they pay the price with relegation if no signings of quality are made

Should have resigned on the 20th when his transfer deadline was not met.
Would have more respect for him then and would have increased our relegation prospects and messed up Ashley's takeover plans

Thing is though Owl it doesnt matter who is in charge. Will always be the same as long as that fat cunt is here. All hell should be thrown at him not anyone else.
Its been the same every window. Why should this be any different. Its what he does.
Pardew just signed Sturridge apparently from under our noses. He famously couldnt get anyone over the line here but has at Palace and West Brom.
Its down to Ashley and nobody else.My only beef with Rafa is that he has thrown everything out there time and time again to let everyone know who is to blame. So now its over to him to walk away.I dont think he will but I want him to.

I can see Ashley might go for that one. Sell Lascelles for £15m, get in a loan player for £2m, that's £13m in the bank BEFORE getting relegated, he may as well cash in when the price is high.

For once, we have a moment when NUFC are at home at a critical time. The match is due to finish a little over an hour before the deadline.

In the past, negative announcements have been overshadowed, for example when Gary Speed died.

Let's hope those supporters who do attend make their feelings totally clear to Ashley and Charnley.

It's strange, but Sturridge doesn't seem to be blaming Ashley or Charnley.

Sturridge said: “This felt like the right fit. I’ve got friends here I’ve played with before, the manager spoke very well, the challenge with the team and the style of play. I just felt this was the right fit for me.”
