Have we bid £20m for a forward but won't name for fear of attracting attention from other clubs? I'll not hold my breath.

Rafa needs to ask the club directly involved if we have actually bid for 'the player' because we're all aware of the shenanigans that go on thanks to Keegan.

According to George Caulkin it's not Gameiro or Celtic's Moussa Dembele. Shearer said Rafa wanted Hernandez in the Summer but he's not worth £20m and Bas Dost will cost over £30m now.

Only leaves Deeney realistically or some unknown foreigner that has his 6 years worth of wages included in the overall price.

Hasn't Andre Schurrle been mentioned, of course it's more likely to be 45 yr old Paul Dickov on loan.

Slimani has been mentioned as well but there's no way a fee so high will be paid when there's little chance of it being recouped.

Surely not Gameiro? I think he is 30 now so probably at or near the peak of his value. No resale value. Intriguing.

I bet Aarons is chuffed at the sight of this Kennedy kid tipping up at the training ground. Personally I didn't think Kennedy looked too clever in the FA cup game last week, although I later found out he was awarded man of the match. To be fair I only watched about 30 mins of the 2nd half. Getting back to Aarons 'though he doesn't seem to have had much of a chance over the years in between injuries.

That was my gut reaction but thinking about it, there is a post on the takeover thread to the effect of if Ashley wants to sell for £350m, he has to make NUFC a £350m club.

There might be 3 things to consider:
1. Given Rafa's attention to detail, does Gamiero's background suggest he could have the longetivity of Ibrahimovic or Larsson?
2. What would a younger Gameiro cost in today's market, £40-50m maybe?
3. Does that sort of quality guarantee Premier League TV income next season?

Depending on the answers to the above, then if it is him, it could be good news that Ashley wants to sell NUFC, resale value being the next owners' problem. That sort of investment might encourage Rafa to sign a new contract, actually meaning that NUFC is a £350m club.

So if there's any truth in any of this we can safely say Ashley is bothered about relegation, would make me laugh if we spent big and still went down when the stupid prick could've kept his promises to the manager and invested in the summer instead, geting better deals as well. 11 years and still he's learnt nothing.

In regards to Aarons, I read somewhere that there are questions over his attitude. Might be true, might not be but there was that incident down the quayside last year, so maybe there's something happening behind the scenes we dont know of

That Pete Graves at Sky says we are in for a 20m striker but club wants to keep quiet until the deal is done.Sky the good friends of our corrupt owner.
In other words a bid will go in for a player well under the asking price and it wont happen.(sounds a bit like the supposed takeover).Ashley been bidding lower than the value for years. When done to him he cant handle it.
Still think this Kenedy will be our lot for this window.Just cant see any money being spent.

Am I correct in saying it has taken the MD three 'windows' to get Kenedy over the line? I hope this mystery £20m player isn't in a rush then, he'll have plenty time to chew the fat over a potential move.

Brighton have just signed Jurgen Locadia from PSV so can't see Mitro going. Mind, he might be forgiven for any thoughts of Brighton if he looks at a former team mate Krul. One game in the cup so far this season.
Oh, bid has been knocked back.

Isn’t he banned for 3 games after trying to elbow someone the other night against Ajax? 3 games given the circumstances is a lot. Then again, our manager seems to think going half a season with Joblot up front is ok.

Just trying to take stock and make sense of the morning's "revelations".

If the crap in the press is to be believed, it looks like 2 strikers potentially in for around £20m each - but hold on.

Gayle and Mitro out might balance that to the tune of £25m allegedly so that is only a net £15m on the transfer budget. Don't forget wages etc and Kenedy confirmed on loan, Saivet already freeing up space.

In other news, we have our 17th televised game announced meaning that TV revenues will be over budget for the season.

By my reckoning of club cash flows, admittedly some assumptions being made about timing of instalments on players sold 18 months ago, if all the above is true, then there is about £15m left in the kitty, not accounting for other sales.

One of the named 25 players in the squad is Colback. In the last year of his contract, no doubt he will not want to move on due to the "loyalty" bonus at the end of his contract, as well as if not signing for another club, the standard FA redundancy type payment.

All that could make space for Woodman to go on loan and import another over 21 goalkeeper, meaning we have to sell if wanting another central midfielder.

There are a few other permutations but at least we know what could be achieved, if Charnley were competent. Otherwise, Mike might just get a wadge of cash back at the end of the season.

He has had 2 chunks already I think. September and turn of the year. Add in season ticket money , commercial income and sponsorship, transfer instalments etc, he has a bit of cash in the piggy bank.

I think you're right, Owl.

If some of the reports are to be believed it is his thing to go in at half the expected price and shuffle up slowly.

It has also been said that they have tried to open negotiations with Rafa over extending his contract.

Quite honestly, I wonder what they expect. Both Rafa and any players approached must look and think what a shoddy set up. Who wants to play for or manage for a bunch of indecisive cheapskates when there are plenty of clubs out there that can make quick decisions?

The biggest laugh is that Ashley, having run the club down, seems to expect £350m for 2nd rate tat.

It’s almost comical that Ashley demands £350 million for the club because that’s what he thinks it’s worth and subsequently hoys his toys out of the pram when he doesn’t get his way. Yet when it comes to buying players he offers 25% of what the selling club want and wonders why he gets told to fuck off.

Just out of interest, I see that Nicolai Jørgensen has not started and is not on the bench for the Utrecht v Feyenoord match tonight.

He could be signing for us but alternatively, he could be injured. There was a rumour that he did have a side strain. Apparently he couldn't control his laughter when told people believed Ashley would break the longest standing statistic in the Premier League - over 12 years without breaking the club transfer record.

EDIT
OK I'm happy to leave my ignorance for all to see.

In fact he was red carded against Ajax on Sunday. This is the first game of his ban.

There was a rule that bans only applied with one club so if a player transferred it would not be carried over. We benefited from it once. Does anyone know if it is still the same? I can't find anything that suggests a ban in Dutch football would affect his eligibility here.

Alternatively, with both NUFC and Feyenoord playing on Sunday, if he signed before the Burnley game, he would be eligible for Palace.
