Not good enough,Benitez got his selection wrong again.Merino wasn't fit,Murphy gives the ball away too much,Perez and Joselu nothing short of passengers.

Against Chelsea I wouldn't play with a striker I'd just pack the midfield and hope to score on the break. Pound to a penny Benitez will stay with Joselu because he's a stubborn old fucker, who doesn't like to think he has hade a balls up paying £5m for a pile of shite.

Thanks lads, feels like like 2 points dropped rather than one gained but at 0-2 I was struggling to see us getting owt against a team who haven't won in 12 games

Would’ve taken a point before kick off on current form and certainly at 2 down, but as Mac says that had winner written all over it just needed a couple more minutes, they were shot.

A bit of a relief. Memories were flooding back of my son's first match, League Cup at home when Megson managed West Brom to a win against a world class manager in SBR. The difference now is in the level of quality in the squad, down to a lack of investment from above.

If only the fixture had come after Pardew's appointment. We would have won by a landslide.

If Benitez had started with Shelvey and Mitro we could have won at a canter

You can see why Rafa picks Joselu and id be interested to know just how far he runs in a game. It's for his work rate.

Like I said when I first saw him, he's more of a Varadi type and needs a partner ahead of him. Dare I say pairing him with Mitrovic against Chelsea although they can be quite similar players.

Thought Mbemba was excellent in his interceptions but abysmal in his distribution with Murphy similarly frustrating. As OM mentioned further back in the thread, with another 5 minutes we could have won this and maybe with a bit more intensity going forward earlier, we could and should have done.

If anything a point away from home is always a half decent return and in this instance it is precious to say the least in stopping the losing rot.

Thats the plus side of things and I would have taken a point before the game. After watching it though if we went for it we could have came away with 3 points. After no wins in 11 before tonight they were there for the taking. If only we had scored 1st who knows what would have happened.

West Brom were coming off the back of a good performance away to spurs ( it was on tv out here) and they were the better team for 60mins, lastnight against us it certainly was a game of 2 halves. Thought Mbemba was good devensively and Murphy is gaining in confidence. Joselu and Perez while they may work hard create between them the square root of fuck all.
I agree with the comment earlier that if Mitro and Shelvey had come on earlier that game was for our taking.
Even a half fit Merino still looked class lastnight in the second half.

A point is better than nowt

In Rafa we trust

Good points: we stopped the rot if only temporary, and we fought back from 2 down.
Bad points: defending and lack of Finishing up front.

What's got to be worrying is Lascelles and Clark are our joint top scorers. Without Ritchies excellent deliveries from set pieces we would be propping the division up.

Chelsea is a free shot but we'll need to pack the midfield so I expect a formation of 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1.
These are the sort of games Rafa loves and he outthought Merino for 30 minutes but just didn't have the quality to pull it off over the 90.

Just watched the game and thought we were much better than them everywhere apart from up front.

The negative first half tactics cost us two points, simple as that..

I think Rafa has made a rod for his own back with Mitro. He daren't rely on him know because if he starts scoring goals it will be so clear Rafa got it wrong for so long. Me I think Mitro is poor but sadly he is the best we have got.
