How should it 'have been a penalty', Lily-Liver (Savage); Lukaku was dragging Clark along with him!

Disappointing after doing well most of the half. Hope it's not going to collapse second half, but I suspect it will.
Same old problem unable to deal with crosses and that's when you need a commanding presence in the area. Eloitt does not do that.
Looks like a 4 or 5 goal hammering on the cards.

Fucking Diame? No need to say anymore.

Well totally predictable battering, only surprised being Gayle's goal. All those bellends who were creaming themselves over that good start are now realising that the season doesn't finish before Christmas. Major investment needed in January and that's hoping the fat cunt isn't here, the ONLY reason this lot will stay up is if there's 3 worse teams.

Positives, I think Murphy’s looked comfortable and Shelvey’s played well. Negatives the two centre backs and Hayden who looks like he’s gone backwards these last few weeks. Elliot obviously, but we simply haven’t the quality against these sides, 85 million Pogba against Ashleys bargain basement buys, still we’ve played a lot worse considering. Plenty to go into the next game with, but I hope he doesn’t revert to the same 11 at home. Murphy and Aaron’s deserve more game time and Joselu needs benching.

Don't you think benitez tactics and his team selections are too predictable? Sorry but as much as he is a good bloke his style of football is fucking garbage.

Yes we all knew we'd get battered today but we are getting beat off the other clubs that will be scrapping it out at vthe bottom at the end of the season.

I think he's the ideal manager for these set of players, for the depth in class when we're up against that kind of opposition his organisation is plain to see, those same 11 under Pardew or McClaren would've have folded immediately and shipped 6 or 7. I also like his positive attitude with the players on the pitch at the end. You're right about the clubs we're scrapping it out with though, he needs to be more adventurous, try Mitrovic/Aarons/Murphy, change things and have a go. First half until they levelled it I thought we looked good, solid at the back and quick to break and played some good football. I think the problem at home is despite his reputation he's sticking with the same players when a few of them need a kick up the arse or even just a rest. I mean I've seen nothing in Atsu that tells me he's better than Aarons or Murphy.

You look at the odds for relegation from the Premiership and the top 6 are all 1000/1 or more. The rest are 25/1 or less. To me that says it all. We gave them a fright for 30 odd minutes but once they were in front it was a struggle.

The top 6 are pretty much decided - Citeh to win, the next 5 battling it out among themselves for the 2nd to 6th slot.

Everyone else, is in kind of a separate league, roughly, equal to each other.

If you come 7th in the table, excluding the big 6 - you've effectively gone as high as it is possible to do right now.

It will take a few seasons to dislodge any of the Citeh/Manure/Chelski/Arse/Spuds/Victimpool hold on the first 6 places.

Murphy should get a decent run, he is capable. Shelvey is vastly overrated in my opinion. Defence without Laselles is suspect and keeper is very average. Need some incomings desperately because by the Xmas period we might not be far off the relegation scrap looking at the fixture lost

I thought Murphy did well. Good running, much more confident than when he came on as sub last time. A positive from today - will have done him some good in his mind.

Joselu, responsible for giving away the ball for our 2nd goal. We might have gone into half time had it not been for that clanger. Yet again, he added nothing. If it had been anyone but Manure, I'm sure Mitrovic would have started in his place.

Yup, Lejeune seemed to give up at a key moment. Needs more experience here.

Elliot did OK I think, largely let down by his defenders.

Yedlin has good pace, likes to get forward; but I feel any task of a defender/wing-back, is to defend above anything else - he likes to bomb forward a little too often IMO.

Pleased to see Gayle score again - it's been a while. Again, will have done his confidence some good with that goal.

More positives than questions for me. Nowt was learned although the mistakes and inadequacies were underlined.

Gayle confirmed that he is a bit part poacher.

Murphy showed that he is still an unknown entity at this level although he is capable of challenging at it.

Elliot was shown up by a keeper a few levels above him with his distribution like chalk and cheese.

In one hand we deserved more than a defeat by three goals but in the other, it proved the difference between proper spending and just enough being done to try and fluke a safety battle.

We also, as Toon fans, tend to be hyper-critical of how we played. Yup, we got comfortably beaten, and by a three goal margin.

But Manchester United played very, very well, once they got through the half-hour at the start. And were at home, under Mourinho - I think that does need to be taken into consideration.

Also I noted that the Manure players, almost all-round really, where physically much stronger with players like Pogba simply standing between our player and the ball, and our player just bouncing off him almost, unable to get at the ball. We were easily held off on several times, by physically stronger players - that's a bit of a worry.

I am not being over critical, we played ok for half an hour but overall the club is in a mess. Just look at the reserve and junior teams, nobody coming through and disastrous results. We have nothing in reserve.
The aim this season is just to stay up and it could be a struggle. Only 6 points from the relegation battle.

The future of the club will be decided by now and 31st January. If Ashley is still here Benitez will be gone in the summer and we will be chasing Sunlan all the way to the First Division. We need to change 20 of our 25 man squad and pretty damn fucking sharpish as well. As the Owl says we are fucking shit all the way down to the juniors.

Another one here not faulting the effort but have come away from that thinking about the gulf in class. Pogba cost more than our starting 11. Sometimes you just have to say well done to the opposition.

Let's hope that it didn't put off potential buyers off, seeing how much investment is needed to break into the top 6.

Yesterday showed we are not far away in some areas but a million miles away in others. Maybe with Merino and Lascelles in, it could have made a difference although with an anonymous striker filling one position, we were always destined for the same outcome.

January is massive in that if we dont get that striker we need, it's going to be a close battle to avoid the likes of Burton and Brentford away next season.

We are a million miles away from Man U right now. We haven't got a player on our books who would make their bench. Amazing the divergence in fortunes since the mid to late 90s.

Lejeune's defending on the 4th goal was disgraceful as is a goalkeeper who stays rooted to his line.
