Just like when I gave my warning, a decade or so ago, that 'Ashley owning Newcastle United, might not be a good a thing as you all seem to think'.

Beware - THIS is what can happen, when someone from overseas invests in the club:

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-leicestershire-41966741

I am going on record right here and now, saying despite how bad Ashley is.........this is the scale of problems we could potentially run into, if/when we are owned by what is in effect, a company or group of companies; or an individual, from what is in effect, a rogue nation with ill-gotten gains.

Just saying.

Didn't they just win the league? Think I'll take my chances after seeing us win absolutely fuck all in my lifetime.

It's a nothing story. The Leicester owner is richer than Ashley and Leicester came 2nd in the English rich league last season with TV money totalling over £93m alone.

At worst the owner would lose less than a 10th of his worth or could just sell the club in order to protect his assets.

Irrelevant. You miss my point.

I clearly, clearly said 'Beware - THIS is what can happen, when someone from overseas invests in the club'.

I DIDNT say the issue was a) Valid or b) anything to do with 'how much'.

I meant, VERY BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN.

Don't twist my meaning for this individual outcome - I mean in much more general terms, it leaves the club wide open to all sorts of (much bigger) goings on, than Ashley - even to the point of destroying the club.

I've made my point. That is all.

To many, Ashley has already destroyed the club anyway.

No, he hasn't. We're mid-table in the Premier League.

'Destroyed the club' is a hysterical reaction, very often found on here.

He's fucked up, big time, several times. But. He has not 'destroyed the club', as it still exists as an entity. In the top flight at that.

'Destroyed the club' my arse.

A new owner, from the middle-east - now THAT has the REAL potential, to 'destroy the club' - as in it's very existence.

Well I will take a risk because currently we are going nowhere and never will

If mid table, zero cup runs and little excitement with player recruitment is what we want then let’s stick with what we have

I agree sort of that everything is a risk and could go tits up at anytime - or we could be run properly and see the great times back and fans with some optimism for a change

I will take the latter

I will take the latter, too.

For me, a new owner would be what I would choose.

However, it comes with risks. Some BIG risks.

I know that if it does indeed happen, a couple of years down the line when ticket prices rocket; you can't get tickets because many fans fly in from Europe that have nothing to do with the Toon; some issue happens because the overseas owner is found out to be corrupt and owes big, big money - those that have banged on, and on, and fucking ON about how bad Ashley was, decide that the new owner is a wanker - you asked for it - in the very same way you asked for Ashley over the previous regime.

I'm not a fan of either.

The old regime threw away good money on some shit; but then they had dreams of success.

The current regime won't spend fuck-all and thus not waste money, but has absolutely no imagination.

Both system didn't, and never will / would have, won anything.

I'm not totally for a foreign owner either though - though that would increase the chances of some success (with lots of associated risk).

My solution would be for a consortium of north-east owners. But we don't have enough wealthy people in the region.

As usual what a load of ill informed shite. Surely the key factor would be how many people are in the consortium?

The old regime (as you call them) came so close to "winning something". Certainly not the fault of the owners that we didn't.

If I remember we were a limited company when Hall sold all the shares held by his family to Ashley.
I didn't want to sell my few hundred shares to Ashley but as the deadline day for selling approached I received a reminder would result in me getting sweet FA. Hall cashed in before the shit hit the fan and Ashley did due diligence.

Hall sold out, and sold all the other small share-holders out when he did - same for me.

There was a HUGE clamber to get Ashley in though, as 'he is a multi-billionaire'. Especially, on this very site.

Was it a good move? Was it fuck (though it isn't the complete disaster other clubs such as Leeds and S'lun have gone). And some of his decisions were awful. But less than catastrophic - as we are where we are now - mid-top-level, world-class manager. No striker.

Now, fast-forward 10 years (in truth, 4 or 5 and we could see it wasn't a good decision to support the fat cunt at all).

Now, all the same cunts on here, the ones that still post that is, 'oh, oh, we don't like our current owner, oh, oh, let someone else have a go'.

Fucking pathetic. Especially as it's the same ones that will desert again when the going gets tough under any new ownership, such as ticket prices going up; being unable to get tickets due to fans from far afield getting them, ala Manure; and when corruption charges and it's ilk of the murky world that is billions of £££ brings with it, it's evil side.

I know it. You know it. The cunts that jumped ship that will climb back on once the going goes well for a while - only to jump off it again when the waters again get choppy.

Same old. Same old.

Me? I warned against Ashley.

I'm all for a change - but am again warning that it will never be 'plain sailing' at the Toon - ever.

Simple. Take it or leave it. Accept it or deny it. But it's FACT.

It's not FACT it's merely your opinion. Don't kid yourself Robin we've proven long ago you read every word. Not very sure of yourself are you ? Is it "all" this time ? You sure ? Got a little smilie to post as a witty comeback ? Maybe a meme like the 10 yr olds do ? Or are you going to make the same old point again and again and again and again ? You've more threads than a fat lasses jumper .

We weren't here in our current form when Ashley came in. It was Fans Online and if I remember rightly, we were all looking forward to it although it didn't last long.

I know that me and Rex were amongst the last ones to stop giving the benefit of the doubt to Ashley although we then were regular players in exposing the shite.

The archives go back to December 2007 but there's a few blasts from the past on there.

It will never, ever, be 'plain-sailing' at Newcastle United. The best we can hope for, is an extended period of calm.

People thinking, somehow, a new owner will mean we'll forever be stable - is utterly wrong. A period of time of calm is likely to follow, of course, before something else comes up that means people get fed up - because they cannot accept the rough with the smooth. That is THEIR fault, not Newcastle United's. All other football clubs have ups and downs - but other fans accept this.

A new owner would be great - I want to see investment in the team too, but that has other negative effects which will mean the whiners will be back to square one, where they seem to like it most, just on a different angle of complaining.

As I've already said, I'd love to see a new owner.

I'm just not blind to the risks it involves - and I was the same pre-Ashley era - I was aware then, that things might not necessarily work out as people wished. Vocal about it, actually. Who was right? Hate the cunt now, after the event, don't the majority of you??

But then again, I'm into NUFC, even in the rough times (and rougher in times pre-Keegan too). I'm not a deserter when we're not winning all the time. That's the difference.

We're all agreed we want chubby gone.

As when he first arrived, I have reservations about exactly WHO comes in, next, and the damage they can do dependent on what their true aims are, and how they made their money / what they do with it from a legal perspective according to the countries they operate in.

Not agreeing with Tubby, and not adding to his coffers is fine - it's your personal choice.

I don't have a problem with that.

You're not one on here boohooing at every opportunity, blaming fatty for everything including global warming and other things not related, it's detrimental effect on an individuals wellbeing and personal life, and how everyone that still does decide to go for whatever reason 'is a cunt'.

Some do, though.
