Did anyone actually think it was going ahead? It was as clear as day that it was all about this transfer window and I’m pretty sure plenty on here even suggested something would come up to prevent money being spent well before takeover talks were announced.

Think, probably not. Hope, yes.

I wonder what he will come up with for the next window, its like fucking groundhog day. I feel sorry for those supporters who got there hopes up thinking we were going to get an owner who wanted to win things. I think Ashley knows he can do whatever he wants with no consequences its a shame the Sham army arent around these days to give him a good shoeing.

This has hardly even touched the sides of me being bothered as I expected this but intrigued as to how this is going to pan out as PCP reckon the first they heard it was off was via SKY

It seems that Ashley speaks to Sky more than he does to the most crucial employee in his multi hundred million business.

We all know what the KK tribunal said about him. I might not be alone in thinking Ashley's truthfulness is like constipation and his lies like diarrhoea.

No takeover, no players incoming, no protests, 50k at the next home game.........blah blah

If Benitez has any honour he will walk. (I won't hold my breath) No doubt by some miracle we will stay up, fatty will pocket the tv money and we go around again for another season.

Nothing has changed and not likely to change all the time fatty is about.

Maybe, Ashley has had an offer from the other Arab bidders, drop PCP and say they knew the price he was after, only the second bidders reached that figure...

If Benitez has any honour he will walk.

I can see potential dilemma. On the whole, supporters love him. I am sure he loves hearing the support. It is obvious how he has supported Liverpool families over Hillsborough.

It's not such an easy choice. Does he honour the supporters or stick two fingers up to the owner who didn't support and honour him?

The legal battles could keep him out of work for the next 2 years.

I don't dislike Rafa at all, would be a great manager under the right owner. After all this takeover crap has now got me back to thinking I them to be relegated, I don't want to be in the top league where Brighton, Huddersfield and Crystal fucking Palace are better than us.

The club might as well go bankrupt for the amount of use it is with Ashley as owner.

I knew it now goodbye Rafa. Hello Championship.
Totally lost interest now in the club. It's a shambles.

I have a golfing mate who is a director at Lincoln City. He is a principled man who encourages player and management development. It is great to hear how they like to look after the talent that passes through their custodianship, compared to the Ashley regime that dumps on a player with testicular cancer.

Sometimes, I suppose principles can take over from dumped om loyalty.

Expect nowt and then be pleasantly surprised.

I’d like to go back to a question I raised the other day, when as per usual, the usual suspects couldn’t and wouldn’t anewer...

If this has fell through, what are the wankers in the ground going to do about it?

I know someone mentioned a boycott needs organisation en masse. There you go boys and girls... it’s all been done. Over to you.

We’ll see how many backbones are in the ground the next home game. Not many I’d surmise. Same goes for the away game too. Simply don’t turn up. Make a statement.

Interesting rumour tonight is that a 'mortal' Ashley rang up his Sky mates as he is pissed off that he cant wangle more out of PCP.

If true, Ashley will have a hell of a headache tomorrow.

I think we know the answer. Those in the ground will all turn up next home game and "support the team, not the regime" and all the while sing a song about Rafa.
What will change at Newcastle if the people who pay money to watch the shite served up last 10 yrs dont change themselves?
Way I see it is if you keep paying, you are happy with what you are seeing and how Ashley is treating you.

YES.

When news of a possible takeover broke I immediately thought scam.

I posted that the new owner would have to park their tank on Ashley's lawn before I started celebrating his departure

The bigger the story grew in the media the more inclined I was to believe it was possible.

What swung it for me was Benitez.
Long past his best and boring as fuck from a football perspective imo,but a cunt....highly unlikely, especially when you look at his past.

He's been the biggest factor in what now appears to be Ashley's latest con.

Could he have pulled it off with Pardew at the helm ?

Benitez is not in on any scam . As previously mentioned before he comes across as a genuine football man and a man of integrity. Look when he signed and he carried out a root and branch transformation of the club re footballing matters, even to the extent of turning the pitches around at the training ground and getting rid of carr (one of Ashley's biggest cohorts. Rafa 's current football may not be pleasing to the eye for the vast majority but it's been quite some time since he worked with such a poor squad I reckon.
The ONLY villain in this is Ashley .. He has previous with our club fucks over the city, the fans who attend and to an extent those who follow the club but do not attend. He takes away all hope.remember his words "they don't know how nasty we can be"
If this is a ruse to extort a few more quid it's a real gamble.

What needs to be done is a massive concerted effort to rid this twat . If Rafa leaves I do think that will be the straw that breaks the camels back. The vast majority of the fans love Benitez and if he resigns and states publicly his reasons the tide would turn ( I hope ) .

The fans inside the ground are the first line of attack give him the shite he deserves.
people outside the ground handing out parafsnalia outlining all his dealings and net spend etc.. facts that the ordinary punter can understand and relate to.
Public media campaigns radio newspapers internet the lot.
Boycotts be it for a half for those that need the social gathering of matchday or full game
He needs driven out .

It was all too public, if/when Ashley does sell nobody will know a thing about it until the contract has been signed and the Shite Direct signs are being burned on the pitch.

Thing with Ashley is he would screw over his own parents if he could make that little bit more money.

Here's hoping an aviation accident is in his not too distant future. In fact, I wonder if he needs a former helicopter mechanic to service it for him

The vast majority of fans loved Keegan TP.....

You won't hear a squeak from Benitez if he resigns,I have no doubt that "watertight contract" has a non disclosure agreement.

He needs to walk NOW to put Ashley under real pressure but that's not going to happen.

Reflecting on this devastating news (and that's what it is, someone earlier referred to being in mourning and that's how it feels) I was very hopeful of a takeover based on what I had heard.

It is now crystal clear that Ashley will never sell the club. If a real top notch financial company, used to making mega deals and who has completed a very thorough due diligence on club finances going back years, values the club at little over £200M and were prepared to try to winkle him out with £250M fails, then there won't be anyone else coming in with more.

PCP were the only chance. The club is dead.

I think maybe Ashley's trying to force PCP's hand and is maybe calling their bluff. However if the club is really worth what he values it at why aren't other parties interested? The reason is because it's a toxic brand being held together by a few staples and needs serious investment in the playing squad, training facilities and development coaches. A well run business may well be worth 350m but a sham like ours simply isn't. Potential yes, but we've also got the potential to be relegated within the next five months.

We need the local rags to get involved Chronicle; gazette and the Echo - advertise a boycott and help push it

Something big has to happen locally and needs big organisations to get involved to really show the anger in the area

I genuinely believed this was it and a new era was about to start - although I should have agreed with many that said it wouldn’t

Frustrated and angered is beyond what I feel

Contrary to whether it was believed by any of us or not, the latest actions of Ashley have made me think that he wants to sell after all.

Unconfirmed reports have it that Ashley rang up sky in a drunken haze blowing a gasket because his asking price wasn't being met, if true, this sounds like the actions of a bloke getting ever more desperate with deadlines approaching.

Wonder what repercussions there will be for the comments when there is a NDA in place?

This also wont be the end of this.

I agree Toony. If PCP have actually made a sealed bid to Chris Mort at Freshfields, and this can be easily proved, then Ashley's camps denial of a bid is not only the breaking of the NDA but is also a slanderous comment towards a company with the backing of a lot more clout than he can muster, certainly financially anyway. I'm not so sure of a drunken telephone call but I can certainly believe a `toys out the pram' scenario if Ashley has at last met his match, a woman to boot. That must get his hackles right up being a testosterone, beer swilling, fat cockney bastard. A wee slip of a Yorkshire lass is calling his bluff and forcing him to either invest in January or watch your 350m dissappear into The Championship. I hope that's the scenario anyway but like everybody else I'm just putting my spin on all of the reports we have seen in the media.

Aledgedly he has a bit of history regarding drink and selling the club. I read somewhere that he and his staff went to Dubai several years ago to sell the club, he ended up getting tanked up and kept the potential arab buyers waiting etc. Not the thing to do out here , if true arrogance and ineptitude beyond belief.

Haha another boycott? It’ll last a week then back to normal.
Still the ground will look pretty with all the flags in it.
Supporting the team is supporting the regime.

Any one read the bbc article yesterday morning? Basically said Ashley was gambling with the club but as he’s put £284 million in to keep the club afloat he should at least make a profit on what he’s put in.
no mention of the transfer surplus or mid management.

Has he got everyone on the payroll?
