Ashley reportedly funding the January spending with £30 mil, gonna need more than that.

£30m to spend in January. The exact war chest that is needed for the left back position.

Right then, what is being offered for RB, CB, GK, CM, LW and 2 CFs?

We can usually extrapolate the financial accounts to see what is available in the transfer budget. This is from someone who predicted what McClaren was allowed to spend.

For the January window, the 2nd tranche of Premier League income is in as are season ticket sales, match revenues and sponsorship. The big questions are much Ashley takes and a new owner puts in.

It seems a fair guess to say now, it doesn't need cash to be held back for the wage bill up to the final Premier League payment which gives £20-30m.

The next issue is where to spend it. The takeover gives a great excuse for loan deals with an option to buy. Also the squad is registered as 24 + Colback so there may be a part exchange or two to stay within the 25 man limit.

It is an enticing thought that we could swap Colback for Barkley now that Everton have got webuyanytrash.com as their new manager.

May only be £30 mil available until it's rubber stamped by the league which should be well in advance of the end of Jan. Would then expect much more to be available.

It's also worth pointing out that we have been at this stage a number of times allegedly with deals all sitting there ready to sign then scuppered with Ashley's price rising considerably at the last minute.

Im quietly waiting until this is announced via official lines before pencilling in my drink orders for the next few months.

Doesn’t bode well if they’re having to borrow 30 million for transfers already.

I’d rather have nowt to spend then get another 6 joselus

I think we’re still doomed, even if you chucked 200million at it,you couldn’t expect 5 or six players to gel instantly let alone aclimatise to English football

We've hit a little bit of a rut with injuries to vital players but lets not forget how shit this league is. if we can get a proven goalscorer we should be fine as we've only been a few missed chances away from winning another two or three games this season. However we need to get De Yedlin out of fullback and put Mbemba or Gamez in there. He's obviously our major defensive weakness and is being targeted every game.

Is the 30 million borrowed not just down to the period of time needed before any actual takeover ?

I still can't believe a smart businesswoman would pay over the odds for a club that looks doomed to relegation. Look at how much it would take to keep the club up. unless fatty is prepared to take a massive hit if they get relegated.

I just can't see the logic in amanda staveley risking so much money on that shit squad of players.

The smart business person looks at an opportunity and asks what a club is worth if run their way.

Take a look back to the 2114-2015 accounts with profit after tax of £32.5m. Even if she pays £325m for the club, that gives a return of 10%. Since then TV revenues have gone up, sponsorship opportunities have gone up and a major user of advertising space pays nothing for the privilege.

She is not risking it "on that shit squad of players", she is risking it on how much more you can get from investing properly in a business.

edit- just done a quick check and if you use the basis above rather than prospective P/E which is the norm, the club should be valued at £450m or so

But will she be prepared for at least a season in the championship rexn? because I think that's where we are headed. Unless he can bring in a few cracking loan signings I mean like Luke shaw/a Torres type of striker and a good keeper I think they are fucked.

Good point Billy.

With current income levels they could spend a theoretical £160m in Jan to secure Premier League status based on current TV deals. If instead we got a couple of loans with options to buy or paid release clauses for players whose contracts are up next summer, then the risk is offset.

Add in to that the World Cup next year and there are some pretty decent players (Giroud/Barkley?)who will haggle to get game time in a high profile league.
