NUFC 'Takeover' Thread

I'd say February would be the perfect time for Ashley to announce it's off the market . "Couldn't give Rafa a transfer budget due to the takeover seeming imminent" will be be the latest in the big book of excuses .

With Ashley's track record, you just know it wont be about a straight cash figure. Any hitch would surely be about him keeping his paws in us somehow.

Exactly toony, If this goes tits up what do you reckon will happen regarding the people that still go? Will it be normal service being resumed or will it be fuck this this is the second time the fat cunt has screwed up a takeover, regarding seriously wealthy potential owners. Don't forget the Man City owners looked at NUFC before they opted for City but fatty wanted stupid money.

I dont think there can ever be any 'normal' service under Ashley anymore and maybe this is part of his reason to get rid as he's exhausted all excuses to do just enough to survive.

The Rafa appointment has lit something in so many people now that if there was any double crossing over selling then the whole place would go up apart from the Pardew lovers who are beyond salvation. There's definitely an interesting period ahead of us now.

Indeed, we'd probably have a riot on our hands the likes of which hasn't been seen since err....................the Cabaye sale.

It was a completely different mentality then. You could walk around the city and talk of football was almost non-existent. It was like nobody cared enough really.

Since Rafa came it has ignited the passion in people again who want to talk about the club and that's before you mention the creation of so many groups who were banned at one point by Ashley incase they sang nasty songs about him.

With experience of the whole ten Ashley years behind us, if owt bad happens again then the kick off that should have happened for the Keegan saga will happen then. You can guarantee it.

The fact that it's quiet to me means that negotiations have started in earnest. I don't think Ashley can afford for this sale not to go ahead because he'll have to re-invest heavily to keep Benitez happy - something he's said he wouldn't do - or risk losing Benitez and any goodwill that has been built up over the last 18 months.

The club's value is at it's highest at the moment and he'll never get a better price than now as we'll plummet down the division in the next six weeks or so. I would expect the new owners tol retain some of the sale price until the HMRC tax investigation is concluded. No doubt the FA will be looking through their rule book with a fine tooth comb to see if there's any way they can punish NUFC via a points deduction.

I think keggy has it bang on here, fatty will wait till the transfer window shuts then will announce the takeover is off probably blaming the other party, when in fact it was him fucking another potential owner about.saving himself a fortune in transfer fees but nowt will be done.

I thought the potential buyers value the club at just over £300m but fatty wanted about £360m.

No way would fatty get £400m for the club that's a fact. So if that's what fatty wants people need to realise the club won't be sold and they need to just put up with what fatty does in the future.

Another option would be for all parties to agree on a figure of say something like £325m and Ashley to retain a 10% stake in the club.

This is what he does. It's postering. He does business by the principles of the barrow boy. Why go and tell the media he wants rid, that he won't invest and that if a deal comes his way he won't stand in the way of the club? Pure posturing to get the best possible price.

I'm with Vin on wanting him totally gone in every capacity but he'll wheel and deal and cheat and wheedle and stall. But I think, this time, he'll take the best price. He knows, without investment, and he won't put anything in, the club will slide and its value will drop. If he goes now, he makes a tidy profit. If he stays, Rafa will be off and the impetus will be lost. He loses. And he doesn't like losing in business.

A lot of fall out about nowt this weekend with a rehashed story appearing in Asia saying that a price of £300m has been agreed with PCP.

The Ronny Gill were quick to dismiss this by saying that club sources have denied it as well as saying that no bid has even been submitted. Some with decent links have questioned this comment as they say a bid has gone in.

Like DaftLad says though, it sounds to me as if a price is being negotiated but that the club is still trying to drum up other offers.

I'm still in the 'unconvinced' camp. Unless there has been a lot of negotiations we haven't been privy to then Ashley accepting the first bid on the table is staggering. It's just not his way, as well we know.

It's been pretty silent - which in my experience, means things are being done.

Ashley will never, ever take the first bid. Who does?

I think the timing here is a BIG thing - Rafa is already a top class manager at the helm, the team is doing OK on the pitch, especially given we've got nee body to get us regular goals; for which investment in January would suit ALL parties.

It's a goer is what I'm saying.

Reading the internet, there is talk of an announcement this week re the takeover and a link with Fernando Torres. That may well be people clutching at starws as allegedly he wants out of Athletico Madrid as he cant much game time.

If it were to be true, not sure i i would see that, superb at Liverpool but not so grand at Chelsea. An improvement on what we play with at the minute .

The Star story, as well as the others rehashing it, has been played down by those who have been seemingly in the know over most things NUFC.

However, what is certain and it's a big thing in my optimism level creeping up, is that there will be no inside knowledge leaking before this is done. It will come out of the blue and may well do this week as unlikely as that seems.

The only certainty at present is that with each day that passes, we get one step closer to the fraud fucking off. Let's hope these days are few.

And, possibly into another, much bigger, fraud.

All of the people on here were EXACTLY in this state, when Ashley bought the place, remember??

What on Earth makes you think being owned by a middle-eastern owner/consortium is certain to be an improvement? It comes with a LOT of VERY BIG risks to the very being of Newcastle United as a club.

There is no risk whatsoever in my opinion.

Ive read comments on here and witnessed at first hand the effect an Ashley owned club has had on the fan base. With the soul stripped away and people who lived and breathed the club then turning on their own for continuing to do so, just one reason in a hundred to wish for change.

In our current form and just forgetting about Rafa for 5 minutes, we are still Sports Direct United in all but name.

Basically the comparison is for someone locked in a dungeon with their arms and legs cut back to the stumps but worrying because their 'rescuer' may do worse. Personally I think it's impossible.

When George Caulkin, or a "respected" journalist starts talking dates, then maybe the negotiations are getting somewhere.

Seems like a cheap way to sell newspapers to me....

Aye.

What has given me a little optimism recently is the lack of the respected journos saying anything. Instead of denials, we're getting nowt. Got to be a positive that.

I do think it will happen 'soon' - though not sure this week - anything legal thing can cause a delay.

All being well, it will be a very good thing - be good to get rid of Ashley and move forward to where the club belongs - among the elite.

But, it does come with risks - in the same way as Ashley buying the club brought it's own unforseen at the time issues. You all thought he was the saviour, once. I'm seeing the same thing again.
