Are we really a Premier League football club.Laughing stock from top to bottom.Could almost hear Rafa in a cockney accent because the shite out of his mouth was exactly like Pardew.
2-3 weeks he has known. The other day the so called source said it was unfair to lead the fans on.Took them 3 weeks to come to that conclusion.
Rafa you havent covered yourself in glory here.Thats me done now.Hope we dont win again all season.Fans in the ground,Rafa and Ashley.Maybe you are all well suited.

Under Pardew and co, you just knew they were happy to toe the line 95% of the time with some stuff said probably not even on the script but my impression under Rafa is that he's getting as much stuff out into the public domain for people to make their own minds up of the bigger picture.

I think he's coming across loud and clear.

Let this soak in.

Benitez knew before the window opened that the takeover was off.

He spoke to Mike Ashley then but apparently didn't bother to ask him what the transfer budget was and what was happening regards transfers or discuss what happened with the broken transfer promises of last summer. Who the fuck's he trying to kid ? Another punter having a last turn on the bloated old whore that Newcastle United is under Ashley. Cash the cheques Rafa. Hope it's worth it .

As for criticising Rafa, I tend to hold fire until the facts are known, then I can be as belligerent as anyone. I also think Rafa is very shrewd in the way he conducts his management. Sometimes, what is not said can be telling.

For the time being, we know what Ashley told him 2-3 weeks ago. What we don't know is what Staveley has told him although we do know that Rafa being in situ was part of the deal.

Come on.One thing we surely can agree on is Rafa knows as well as we do,we wont be signing anyone. Why doesnt he just say so.Instead of saying he gave a list of names.
Why lead supporters on?Or is it because he can and get away with it.Unlike managers before him.
I hope I am wrong because I have always had respect for the man and supported him,but am having the same doubts others had of him a while ago.

Rexn, Benitez has sold his credibility and is now trying to box clever about it.

Weeellll...

Supposedly no takeover likely

A step closer to the relegation zone after a battering tomorrow

Out of the cup next week

End of January approaching and FatBoy promising to do something (so nobody new in)...

It's like a black comedy, this.

As i see it, there are 3 things that can happen:
1. as we expect, too little too late
2. Ashley realises what an asset he has with some investment and gives Rafa the tools for the job
3. 2nd thoughts over the weekend and a deal done with Staveley's group putting up the cash.

The time to judge with be 11.01 pm on 31st January.

If there is no transfer activity then Benitez needs to walk otherwise he is part of the con in my book. If Ashley stays i hope we get relegated and then he mght actually fuck off although it might actually take going into the third division but i would take that.

The key thing for Rafa is what happens between now and the end of the season. Ashley has form, getting rid of Hughton before his contract negotiations and afailing to support him with a coach after Calderwood left.

At the end of the season, Rafa will only have 1 year left on his contract. The last year of any manager's contract is dead duck territory. Departure by mutual consent avoids or reduces compensation, Ashley could even get a transfer fee for Rafa.

Who knows, when we know which league we are going to be in, there may be a buyer who is ready to rock. Maybe Staveley can give Rafa a new long contract, maybe if Ashley is still there, Pards will be back on the market after relegating West Brom.

What's also been missed is the translation.

When Rafa said he was told the other week that the 'takeover' was off, he didn't mean he was told that it was the end of the sale, he was told that it wouldn't be completed in January or at least that's what he was led to believe.

I am more certain, now that we have clarified statements from Staveley, that Rafa is here to try to realise our potential and he sees Staveley as a help to get it in the longer term. I am also more certain that Rafa is calculated in what he says in his interviews in order to try to get the pressure on.

All Rafa walking will achieve is a social media war between fans, a few huffs and empty spaces at the match and an eventual appointment of someone happy to pick up the scraps without motivating anyone of anything.

At least as things stand there is a chance of change instead of definite long term apathy.

Why are we waiting .... because we can't be bothered
What do we want .... not sure
When do we want it .... whenever

He doesn't put things in the nicest way but that does not make his thoughts less true.

Why walk and have to pay compensation for something that he may ultimately never walk back into, when he can stay here, continue to be paid and play Mr Politician?

He's human like us all and money will play it's part in some of his decisions but maybe he walked into this with his eyes more open than any of ours have been but it's taking longer than he expected.

As for Ashley in a game of chess, he's a pawn who thinks he can play the role of the queen, so he's unpredictable.

Whilst im here and firing off shots in all directions, one thing I cant understand from today.

We are led to believe from Sky and those outlets in Ashley's pockets that he has pulled the plug on a sale with Staveley and wont resurrect it , but there is no official statement. A statement that more sources reckon wont come.

Then we get Staveley's commitment to the cause and later still a few quotes from her husband who says that they're in it for the long run but will scrap a deal if Rafa walks or is sacked. Even a relegation wont put them off he says.

The baffling bit is the deal itself. Either it's on or off, it cant be loaded from one side like a spurned lover or someone ending a marriage with the other one saying that they'll end it if the other takes their wedding ring off.

Still sounds like Ashley has hoyed his toys with the deal not making the Xmas deadline and PCP being content to wait in the long term. Premier League or not.

Based on history and facts, Ashley's has damaged the city whilst Rafa's is him just being paid to do a job. A job done well in many eyes and that can't be said for Ashley by anyone.

Why is is Mike's greed less acceptable ?

Ashley has pillaged the club and seems only to be interested in an ego trip and his money.

Rafa is a genuine football man, we have seen his charity work in Liverpool and more players getting out here in the community. He is passionate about his work and even when out of work, he has developed his infrastructure.

Rafa gets Newcastle and the people. Ashley gets richer.

Rafa unites, Ashley divides.

A point that could be argued that has applied to each and every other Ashley appointee as well. Problem is, Rafa has good intentions towards the fans though, Ashley has none and neither did some of his other choices.

Absolutely....

The difference is that Ashley's previous appointees were not afforded the excuses Rafa has.

That makes him the best stooge, which is reflected in what Mike pays him.

On the subject of wages,if rafa was the man the fans make him out to be he could donate his 4 million blood money to charity and STILL be a multi millionaire.

Back on thread a little but another thing that seems odd. If Ashley knew that a deal wasn't going to be done in January weeks back, why the angry phone call to Sky the other night?

Rumours being that a certain Simon Bird hating Irish Cockney former 'manager' of ours, was the one ringing on Ashley's behalf.

Still sounds like they are trying to force a deal through by doing so in their usual 'nice' way

I am sure that many of us have had times when we have not been supported at work, we have crap bosses, whatever.

Sometimes, we start with a good boss and they leave, things change. Sometimes we have had bosses who do not honour promises.

There are times certainly that I have loved my work and what benefits it brings to society. When, for whatever reason, you get an unethical boss or found out your boss is not as you thought, you can stick with what you do and ride the storm, hoping they will move on or you can move on yourself.

As with the rest of us, the takeover gives a ray of light. If our boss is that bad and has a negative effect on the business, our time served might just be worth the redundancy terms.

I still think a deal will go through simply because I have not heard a reasonable argument that convinces me Ashley has anything to gain from being relegated.

Of course he might be twisting.....

It's his way of parking his tank on Staveley's lawn. Lets just hope it's a rusty T62 and he can't get the hatch open when the effects of that famous curry house come back to haunt him.

Oh well, PieMag, we come to opinions at different paces and on different evidence. Such is life.

I don't begrudge people getting rich for doing things well. I do begrudge people getting rich by exploiting others.
