In our favour this is a piss poor league and probably the worst since football was re-invented in 1992. However you need to score goals to win games and we just don't look capable with the current forwards on our books. Plus with Rafa's style of football chances will be few and far between so i don't understand why we never went for Hernandez who went to West Ham, even if his wages are outside our current wage structure. What's the betting he's the difference between the two teams next weekend.

On this showing we are going down faster than a whore's drawers. Simply not good enough across the park. A good championship side, but a shite PL one. Thanks MA, wonder how long Rafa will last? Another long, long season

The problem is if you're not arsed about football or interested in it then results don't effect you, Mike Ashley couldn't give a fuck where as I've that low shitty feeling I've had all my life after a lacklustre defeat. As long as he's here I really need to try and give up and not watch us, but tough habit to break after 45 yrs. It's what you do.

It's difficult not to overreact, even after a couple of hours worth of digesting what was served up.

We know the biggest factor in where we are as a club is down to Ashley but we're not far off the side that shouldn't have went down two years ago.

The players shipped out or lost having been called heartless or lambasted for their lack of trying with Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Janmaat, Coloccini and Cisse amongst them to name a few.

Problem being that able replacements have seen their premiums raised over the £25m mark and we wont pay. We're not even paying peanuts to get monkeys.

Very few positives today and loads of negatives. Not just because of the result, however I feel that once Merino adapts to the pace of the league then we could have a potential star. Just seemed a little slow at times in possession. Experience should see an improvement.

Early days but it's a looking like a relegation battle already unless at least two quality signings are made with a the side crying out for a blue chip player with leadership skills.

A keeper is a must as ive been saying for years as Elliot just invites pressure as he loses the ball far too often and cant distribute to save his life.

Manquillo did a couple of things alright but is not a premier league level player.

Gayle is an able premier league sub at best who can nick a goal but not a regular premier league assassin.

Big problems ahead but in no way a crisis where any normal fan wants a change in management, as much as the media are feeding the shite in. We know what we face this season and evenmoreso with Fatso pulling the strings and his PR cohorts muddying the waters.

Momentum can still be salvaged with a little net spend.

Get Pepe Reina in to sort the keeping issue and control from the back.

Get a midfielder who knows what he's doing and can dictate a game.

Get a full back that can cover both flanks as well as a top striker. Just put Mitrovic out of his misery as it's taking the piss out of us all.

Words fail me, a pathetic performance against one of the so called weaker sides. Newcastle are weak all over the pitch, negative and little quality. Benitez can say what he likes about being pleased with there response to going behind but he would be better being honest and saying they were crap. Without quality being brought in in the next 10 days our goose is cooked and back to the Championship. Will Benitez walk. Why not.

As was said earlier we're 17th and that fat prick will be sat contently in his mansion tonight eating several burgers washed down with several pints as he's a 'power drinker' while soft twats in our city continue to hand over money to a parasite who's shat on them all from a great height for over a decade, giving him absolutely no incentive to show any ambition.

Benitez should just come out and tell the truth we are shite and we dont have any money for new signings. We cant compete with clubs like Huddersfield or Watford so we will be getting humped most weeks and the only aim is to avoid relegation so fatty can get his hands on the sky cash every year.

Basically, you're saying every person in the SDA next week is a cunt who has played their part. You're absolutely correct.

Not an agenda, Paul, just the truth. The people who will turn up will make countless excuses as to why they aren't the problem. We all know as well as they do that they are part of the problem.

Awful result - but these things can happen when half your first choice back four are missing, as well as the main play-maker.

Strength-in-depth, and experience is needed. Need to address both in the next 10 days.

Dead right, strength in depth and experience. We need a squad of 18 to 20 experienced premier league class footballers to compete at this level. That leaves us about 16 short then (at best).

Gayle/Perez will never work as a strike force. Too lightweight. Need to get Murphy on from the start on the wing. Two powerful strikers needed now. A billionaire with no money, it's beyond a joke. A Manager who is unhappy and should tell the truth and walk if it is not going to happen. A circus.

Perez has a nice touch, but I question whether he has 'a position'. Used out wide, as a number 10, and as a striker. It's all well being versatile, but if you don't excel at any position, then you shouldn't really get into the 25 man squad.

In two minds as to whether we should sell him, or continue to use him but find him a definitive role.

Gayle? He'll score, when he finds his sharpness back. Does need a partner up front, as his foil.

Ashley knows what is needed and has had Rafa's version of a 5 year plan to mull over. He has no real desire to stray away from the path that rewards himself and the football club next to nowt never mind any growth.

It wouldn't surprise me if he wants us to become a yo-yo club for increased coverage for his tat empire.

I don't think you really mean that Toony, as it's negative coverage and actually costs him many, many millions in lost revenue.

He just needs to learn that an investment under good stewardship, would be much more rewarding for the club, and himself personally.

Its his previous choices of manager that will have made him ssceptical.

Perez hasn't improved since we signed him and Gayle is not premiership quality, he won't score nowhere near enough in this league, there's more chance of the Man City players arriving than Gayle getting into double figures against these defences. In short, you're wrong about everything.

I am not sure I agree, lost revenues is not really a cost per se, rather a missed opportunity. That said remember that Ashley has said that the club can spend the revenues generated, so essentially he wants it to break even each year in terms of operating profit. Therefore it doesn't really make any difference what league we are in (within reason). I have said for years that the only profitable business model I can see for a football club is to be a yo-yo club - albeit you have to be good at it. Negative coverage? I would think there were more positive vibes from last years promotion that years of relegation battles. Anything which keeps the brand in the papers is good for SD I suspect.

A piss poor performance & unless tubby gets his cheque book out relegation is inevitable.
Rafa's tactics need to be questioned as well regardless of the shit he's having to manage, his containing tactics against sides like Huddersfield & the odd draw isn't going to get us enough points to get out of the bottom 3.
Playing Manquillo & Mbemba as full backs offered us no quality out wide & playing Gayle & Perez up front is a joke.
On the positives Joselu looked as though he could at least offer a physical presence up top & Merino could slot alongside Aarons,Murphy & Shelvey with Richie playing in the number 10 role.We need Yedlin fit quickly,a quality left back, top class striker & proper number 10 just to avoid the drop, down to you fatty.
Meanwhile o.m. you calling 50,000 men, women & bairns "cunts" comes across as naive & arrogant, makes you look like a bitter gobshite.

Benitez demeanour is one of resigned to failure with current squad. How long have they had to sort out a quality left back, a decent striker and a creator. Instead they are fitting round pegs in square holes and now you have the players opening their mouths about pulling together, getting it right on the training ground (how many times has that been said).
You do not prepare for The Premiership by getting rid of a striker and bringing in an unknown quality, keeping Gayle who I Can't See scoring many and Mitro who is miss and miss at best. A recipe for disaster.

The second promotion was done and dusted we should have been opening negotiations for 3 or 4 20-30 million pound proven players, most of us said that at the time. The feelgood factor was there at the time, but no, Ashley has let the malaise and negativity creep back into the club and the city within a matter of weeks with his lies and arrogance. He refuses to learn from his mistakes and what's more doesn't care if we get relegated, there's simply nowhere to go under this ownership.
