It seems to be a speciality of our lot, make an offer that sounds good but is not high enough to be accepted.

It depends.

Liverpool spend big, so they'll need to recoup some of it for 'financial fair-play' reasons.

And if Ojo isn't likely to get 1st team football in the immediate future, both Klopp and the player himself might find it appealing to get some cash, and playing time.

A permanent bid has been dismissed by the club this morning although they haven't ruled out a loan deal. This is on top of Murphy.

Exactly how does this 'financial fair-play' work then, how can a club spend say manure so far have spent over £101m and man city who have spent so far just over £130m. how is it fair they can spend ridiculously amounts of money without being hammered by this so called 'financial fair-play' thing.

They can spend as much as they want as long as they dont make a certain 'loss' over 3 seasons I think. This is confused further when owners can shift capital between businesses or sponsor themselves like Man City do.

Aye, it's a bit of a foggy old business alright.

But Citeh were hit with it and they didn't challenge it - so some of it, somehow, must stick.

Along the lines of you can't go on spending forever without recouping.

Was it not just to leverage the take it or leave it Murphy offer?

I would hate us to take players on loan from clubs who should be our rivals and train them up and test them for them. Sunderland have done it for years. A fucking embarrassment.

Might have been leverage, yes.

Personally, I don't think you should be allowed to loan players to clubs in the same league anyway.
