It's been fairly quiet on the striker front, and much more effort on the 'get a winger in'. I wonder if that means some sort of agreement is already in place for the striker we clearly need. And if that's the case, why the delay?

So many questions over why a striker isn't already here; and the focus on wingers.

Cuckfan promotes terrorism, extremism and ignorance.

The links are picking up again. This time another left back in Riza Durmisi. He plays for Real Betis, is Albanian but plays for Denmark at international level.

You can see the class from these players oozing out.

A winger not good enough for the championship.
A defender from a dreadful Spanish team.
A defender from a relegated Mackem team.
A promising winger who nobody else wanted.

It's all looking rosy, especially as they've now spent the Thauvin money with no need to dip into the £150million or so reserve from TV money and other recent sales. Top work by all involved.

Stage 1:

Get the players in, at least two in each position, that can do a job. This adds balance, and some depth. If all 11 places on the pitch are covered, you'll stay up.

Stage 2:

With each transfer window, strengthen the two weakest areas on the pitch. Very soon, the team will be good enough to compete at the upper levels.

We're at Stage 1. And will be all this window, and the January one, too.

Stage 2, starts next summer.

Not rocket science.

You'd be hard put to find a worse right-back than Anita. It wasn't his position anyway.

Also Goofy was out of his depth in the Prem and found his level in the Chumpionshit, so straight away two of those signings are better than what we had. Even if one played for Sunderland when they went down. So did Defoe.

As for a centre-back, we were one short anyway, so have filled that slot.

It's forward movement, no matter had you try to dress it up. And fuck me, do you like to dress things up.

I hope you don't take this personally and start whining about the lack of debate on this forum CF,but could you please explain/debate why after a decade of Ashley's ownership you consider this as stage 1 ?

Or more importantly, why didn't Ashley consider stage 1 back at the start of his ownership?

Im guessing the same reason applies now as to then but he's got 'cleverer' in hiding the fact although the likes of Rafa are questioning it. Will only be one winner if the fatman isn't selling us.

As far as I can remember toony it was only Keegan who really asked the questions about Ashley before walking.

Rafa is currently busy spending the clubs money on players that have potential resell value but no proven pedigree.

If I didn't know better I would accuse him of following Mikes blueprint to the letter.

Aren't we 10 years into the 5 year plan. Or 10 years into the 6th different 5 year plan.

Seems to me that it just gets made up on the spot. Rafa is just the latest person who appears to be going along with it and that's what is disappointing.

Stage 1 should've been completed after the 1st season.

Fatty doesnt know anything about football. It's that simple.

Same for you HumblePieMag. Simple, and know nothing about football.

Anyone who knows anything about football wouldn't appoint Kinnear or Pardew for example.

Benitez arrived. Tells him how it is, we move forward.

You have to be fucking blind NOT to see Stage 1, frankly. It's what Benitez does.

But then again, you are blind, as you keep those 'twisted reality' spectacles on. And then you twist some more (like you have all summer).

"Anyone who knows anything about football wouldn't appoint Kinnear or Pardew for example. "

The same "anyone" who knows nothing about football employs ..................Benitez

Please feel free to debate some more.

He just rocked up like a knight in shining armour, clambering up the steps at the SDU and told Ashley that it was his club now and what he says goes.

Now signing people like Sels, Lazaro, Atsu and other world beaters like Mannequin from Sunderland. Or is a mannequin just what he looks like when a winger runs at him?

Stage 1 complete! The exact same quality as last season i.e a championship level squad!

Now let's move on to stage 2 and be hopeful for a return of Shay Given, Sagna and whoever else is in the bargain bin.

It's unbelievable,Ashley chooses a manager who has won trophies and three quarters or more of our fans automatically trust him.

The majority of our support have clearly been Rafacalised .

Forgot to add,and they cannot see it's the same as being Pardewed.

Stage 1 you ask?

“We are signing the players that can do a job for us.

“I am really pleased with him because he has shown character and personality.

“His desire to play for Newcastle United was there.”

Exactly the words I used ('players that can do a job for us') and posted here, BEFORE he signed and Rafa had spoken.

Fucking ET VIOLA.

Stage 1 will forever be changing when a new manager arrives. His idea of 22 players who can do a job will almost certainly be different from the previous manager.
Benitez was appointed as manager and has a CV to back up claims he is a winner of trophies on multiple occasions.
Under the rotund one's stewardship apart from the keegan appointment this is widely recognized as a footballing appointment. Vastly different to some previous managers.

Rafa given time and financial backing will put this club back on the map ... but while lard arse keeps the biscuit tin shut we will forever be shopping in the transfer market equivilent of primark

Yes transfer fees have gone crazy ... but we need to spend big just to keep up .

Its great that we don't still focus just on young unproven players who might be the next big thing to sell on for jackpot money.............oh hang on!

Meanwhile in other news proper premier league clubs continue to spend proper money on proven players. Of course we can't be expected to compete with the Huddersfields and West Broms of this world.

Oh and we might have just started to dip into the Carroll money, who's gonna tell Mike?

Rafa will be in it for the long run, you can see he's trying to build something, and build it properly too.

All fatty has to do is support him financially and the rewards, on and off the pitch will come.

Fatty just needs to trust him, and understand Rafa knows best.

*not when it comes to football. His best bet is to invest properly, in order to reap properly.

An attacking midfielder link today. Badou Ndiaye.

He looked like he was joining West Ham at one point but we're supposedly interested at the last minute and he favours a move here.

Regardless, he looks like a slimmer version of a cross between Sissoko and Mo Diame. Im guessing we think we already know the script on this one.

One thing I will say is that I'd rather we take a gamble on unproven premiership players like Lejeune and Jacob if the alternative is 25 million for the likes of Arnautovic, that's some money for a bog average player.

He usually does well on Fantasy Football though...

Probably worth about 15 million but in today's market you have to pay the inflated going rate.

The likes of Ashley can't expect to see hundreds of millions in TV money come his way yet still expect to pay transfer fees from 1992.

I think it's got to be a mix of experience, and chance an arm on youth or players from another league if you have to break the bank for someone who isn't top notch.

We got Murphy for the right money in my opinion, youth on his side, pacey, knows where the net is; but not experienced at the top level. £12m or so sounds about right to me. Not £20m+ for someone alreadyvthere that isn't (might not be) as good.

Another 'keeper linked this morning.

Rafa's last choice of 'keeper didn't work out too well - so in all honesty I wish he'd keep the cards he's been dealt with in this position, until he's fixed other that need more attention.

Krul isn't all that bad, and nor is Darlow.

If he can get Reina, great - but I don't think he needs to chase this avenue so much right now.
