How to pretty much destroy your career, from the off.

Will take some work now to rescue any chance of making it big.

Awful, awful backpass to drop him in the shit in the first place.....

But then an awful attempt at a clearance; followed by stopping dead expecting the goal rather than sprinting back in the hope the striker might miss - which he did - in order to be in a better position for what might happen after.

Until the ball is in the back of the net - you never give up / stop moving.

To be fair I think if that was a league game he would have led with his arms and it isn't as much of a clanger as is made out. He was only a small percent to blame.

Disagree entirely.

If it happened in Sunday League football, you'd be disappointed with your 'keeper.

When you know this bloke has to be on £3k or £4k a DAY minimum; it's his everyday job; and he hasn't the basics of either 'clear the ball' or 'don't stop till the ball is dead' which you are taught as about a 6 year old - it's every bit as big a clanger as it seems.

Not a competitive match, sure; but that was fucking horrendous at any level - let alone 'Pro'.

Straight out of Joe Hart's book of blunders, that one.

A friendly game, a suicidal back pass. There's no way a player would risk an injury unless they're of the same type as a Gazza or a Roy Keane who took any game serious.

I didn't rate Sels last season and he made mistakes like that in real play but for that incident, whether im right or not, I can make an excuse for him.

For me he goes from 'glad he's loaned out, will get more practice and experience' to 'with such basic errors as that, pre-season or not, we're best rid of him permanently'.

I agree. Rafa saw something but the lad couldn't reach potential. Money back and move on if possible. Lesson learned.

It's tough for 'keepers. Often a confidence thing. Each mistake is highlighted as it often results in a goal.

His has gone. Going to be very difficult for him to get it back - and for us to recover the money too.

I don't think that was sels' fault. He was left short by the full back.
