If this is true anyone still sitting on the fence in regards to whether Ashley has changed direction should already be landing on the no side.

Rooney to Everton will be announced soon. Wonder if that will start a merry go round with McCarthy shifting here?

It will be confirmed tonight or tomorrow at the latest pending the medical.

Interesting though.

I can't see it being a popular move with a section of the Everton faithful.

chroniclelive:

Benitez has a long standing interest in Everton’s James McCarthy but the price has often been the sticking point. The Mail report that Leicester City are now leading the way for him and that United, amongst others, have been scared off by the £25m price tag.

Fuck me 25m. The worlds gone crazy. An average player at best and you just wonder what a Souness or Keane would be worth nowadays. You've got to be looking at 100m plus.

True vin,
If Sky money was available in those times it may well have cost 100m for their like.

What I find crazy,is Ashley's reluctance to spend the money and how easily his managers accept it.

Is the transfer market only open to Everton? Gylfi Sigurdsson looks to be next in, in the next day or so which aside from allowing James McCarthy to be available, it will also see Ross Barkley be linked with us.

Either deal wont happen.

Everyone now knows they have a huge wad of cash - Premier League money, plus what Mourinho has given them.

Every club that has regained their premier league status should be cash rich although im surprised people are even bothering with the massively overpriced British market.

With every hour that passes Ashley's true intent comes more into focus.

The only other reasonable explanation is that he is in the process of selling up.

If that were true though, the new owners would have to be cast in the same mould as as Ashley because here we are a third of the way through July without a sale,so definitely not footballing people then.

The majority of our support don't want to hear negative comments about Benitez but the fact is he has filled the Pardew role perfectly, and then some.

Imagine if AP was stil at the helm, this board alone would be buzzing, instead it's "wait and see".

Even more remarkable as the report from the link above by the mag states:

"Rafa has chosen not to speak at all in public since the end of the season"

I think Ashley's played a blinder, not good enough for his last five clubs, but a desperate Newcastle United, perfect.

If Carling did Alan Pardew......

It's obvious that the hold up in deals is because Ashley wants the wage bill lowered but because of the shite buys we've had, nobody wants them.

Aside from that the Jacob Murphy talk is intensifying and a deal could be done quite sharpish. Darlow is also more than likely to go and it wont be part of any swop deal with Traore.

What I mean Toony, is Prem clubs have around say 70m to spend, to start with. Including us.

Adding 90m to that for Lukaku means Everton's (minimum) likely spend is now 160m! I know, they've spunked some of that already - but even so - that still leaves a HUGE wad for them.

Oh I know that but there's still nothing stopping other clubs buying players. Just seems to be them or Huddersfield.

Ironic really, as since when I can remember, Everton where always the tight-arses with the cash.

With Lukaku now at Manure it'll mean they'll finish above Arse, and push Wanker even further into a corner.

My prediction is Arse Wanker will not be at the helm, by Xmas.

Looks like the Murphy story is stopped in its tracks with Norwich allegedly rejecting our £8m bid and saying he's not for sale.

Looks like it'll be plan Y or Z before owt happens and there definitely wont be any big signings this season.
