Random quote: Kevin Keegan - “I saw an interview where Alan Pardew said he hoped to get some of that £35million. I thought: ‘Alan, you ain’t going to get any of that.’

The Sun article actually changed from the original piece in which they said that Toure was on £250k a week but had offers from around the world against a backdrop of Man City wanting him to take a £100k a week hit to sign on for one more year.

Our wage structure is similar to Spurs in which the lower basic pay is subsidised by a bigger bonus scheme or at least it was. The top earner is on £60k - £80k a week in Shelvey and there's no way the structure will be broken that much and especially on an ageing player with little chance of recouping cash by merchandise, sell on fees etc.

Even a £200k a week wage would be over £10m a season and that's before agents fees, insurance and add ons. Can see him ending up in America. Im sure Man City have a feeder club over there.

He's after one last big contract.

We don't do, big contracts - let alone his size.

We had Ian wright the other day saying we need to spend 30m on players, as this was 'nothing special'. Ian, for a start you DONT need to spunk 30m on a player; AND, it's 7 or 8 players we need.

Too old ridiculously expensive will treat Newcastle as a retirement home
If he could produce the stuff from 3-4 years ago, yes please. But it's all downhill now for him performance-wise. How old's he ? 34 ?
