God knows why they have to have this start at 12 like but it is what it is on what should be a fitting end to our season off from the premier league.

Be interesting to see the Rafa approach with the season pretty much done for as last season's finale saw us annihilate Spuds with 10 men.

It'll also be interesting to see if Ashley turns up as he's not been seen all season and what happens if we pip Brighton tomorrow? Does Ashley class the real league trophy as one in which he'll put us up for sale? Technically he has to although we know we're jesting here.

A celebration is promised no matter what happens tomorrow by the club. It's got the potential to be a strange one.

It's odd how many times Newcastle United's fate has been inextricably linked to Villa in recent years.

A photo of Ashley and Penfold holding the trophy is doing the rounds already. Apparently Rafa is in talks now. That's the way, catch him when he is pissed and in a good mood.

To be fair Keggy.....Neppos, Gillyboat and 50 thousand others like them have been at the butt end of Officemonkey's puerile shite for long enough

The fact they've decided to have a dig back is inconsequential really

Fair play to Villa for getting a draw after being a goal behind and down to ten men. The penalty at Villa Park and its subsequent conversion brought the biggest cheer of the afternoon amongst the 3,000 travelling Barnsley fans. The atmosphere in the rest of the ground was a bit flat after that until just after Gayle scored. The roar when Jack Grealish equalised was unbelievable. Even in the Milburn Stand which is renowned for its temperance, scenes reminiscent of years ago were witnessed. I suspect Grealish wouldn't have to buy the drinks if he turned up at the Bigg Market.

Just seen an edited version of the banner the Villa fans had previously draped overt the stands, asking who our next messiah would be.....Jack Grealish was written underneath......funny

Born within walking distance of the river Tyne at Wallsend over 40 years ago, There was no choice at all in picking my football team. The black and white blood that has run through my family tree for generations just allowing Newcastle to choose me.

A one club city with it's only real ambition to be the best it can be with many opinions from all over just clouding the issues. With that comes an invisible expectation level that can only be seen by some.

On a personal level, to be drawn in at a young age and feel part of what seemed like a family through thick and thin seemed like an unbreakable bond. You shared what you saw as your highs together and suffered the many many lows. It's part and parcel of the game.

In one hand horrible but in the other, the ability to let your brain release the most amazing chemicals with the speed in which the emotions can change. Adrenaline one thing that even if bought on prescription wouldn't get anywhere near the mix of emotion all mixed together like a cocktail that experiencing everything following your club does.

Politics never bothered me until Mike Ashley came on the scene, even then I tried for a long time to see the method in the madness. My conclusion now is that some of it was cold and calculated with other parts just a result of a chimpanzee at a tea party. Clueless.

The politics caused big divides in the fan base with many peoples levels being used against them as loyalty to something that wasn't being believed in anymore causing the friction with some seeing us as Sports Direct United and others just Newcastle.

Regardless of Ashley's true intentions here, efforts to build bridges started as long back as five years ago but it's only been with the employment of one man that these bridges have been obvious in their attention. That bloke being Rafa Benitez.

The football may not have been the prettiest on the eye but neither is open heart surgery and by god has the club needed that with the end result of a similar nature with the heart beating strong in the city tonight.

Ashley has the task of keeping the bridges maintained now and just allowing the club to wipe it's own arse like he said he wanted all them years ago will be sufficient in allowing something to be built here after the initial first tough season back in the top league.

In Rafa, he's taken a team dead on it's arse with a losing mentality cursing through the whole club into a team breaking away wins records and a style of play that is starting to bear fruit. Top scorers in the league, the best defence and the best goal difference just the tip of the ice burg.

We've had some memorable games this year in a more honest league apart from the officials but most memorable in the return of the atmosphere. Resembling a library for too many years, the efforts by everyone both on and off the pitch to nip things in the bud should be commended and actually achieving something or footballing reasons in the flesh, not once but twice is something ive never seen before and probably wont again.

It's like we've had our own cup final moment we all dreamed of as a bairn with promotion being topped massively by today with the range of emotions on offer.

We played quite well in the game with Perez and Gouffran the stand out players for me. Mbemba did excellent as well.

Two false alarms set the crowd off as everyone thought Brighton were getting beat twice in the first half then reality set in at half time with the score still 0-0 before the Barnsley fans had their moment and let off their red smoke bomb for about 10 seconds in the 2nd half as Brighton scored.

Minutes of reflection passed where the game seemed to be in control and the crowd just seemed to talk amongst themselves to just appreciate promotion on waiting for the whistle before a galloping rumble of roar just enveloped the ground as news again swept round that an Aston Villa goal had us with one hand on the title.

Uncertainty reigned before peoples mobiles came out to prove that it was indeed 1-1 at Villa Park but the final whistle at St James' and waiting for confirmation to come was nervy to say the least.

The noise and scenes when it was confirmed is something I wont ever forget and what may be nothing to some or just a division 2 tin pot trophy didn't matter. For those split seconds it was the ultimate high, the minute we really could say we were Newcastle United again. Forget Ashley until he cocks up. Moments like this are there to be enjoyed as we've pissed so many people off by overcoming a hell of a lot of pressure, expectation from outside and the odds of many things.

If we put the effort in to complain, Im sure as hell going to wallow in this feel good era because we dont know how long this will last but then again, we're Newcastle United and I dont think we'd have it any other way.......
