Looks like we might be losing one of them in the league, if Hartlepool get relegated today.

Of the three, two relegated and one promoted. Strange times indeed.

Not really that strange considering they've all been shit yoyo clubs for years, ourselves included. For an area so rich in footballing talent it's criminal the mismanagement in the North East for decades now. Hotbed of football my arse when you compare it to the North West.

If Fulham win the play offs and Hull are relegated then Burnley will be the nearest Premiership team .

That's the biggest fallacy about NE football, the idea it is rich in talent, it is not, name the last local lad to make it really big, maybe play for his country etc....

Too many young uns would rather piss about in the house than do the hard work to become better, don't get me on about the academy systems run either, they are just a resource to make money, by flogging off kids not good enough to lower leagues.

Money has fucked over the local lads to local teams, when for a paultry amount a ready made foreign player can be bought.

The standard of Northern League, even Sunday league is absolutely shite, and I speak with experience, having been involved for 25 years or so. Scottish football, another "hotbed", has never been in a worse state either.

I should've said it WAS rich in talent and for years from the likes of the Charltons through to Ray Kennedy, Bryan Robson etc every club that dominated the league for a period always had North East talent in there missed by ourselves and the Mackems. You're right though, seems to be less and less coming through and struggling to think of any since Carroll, possibly the mackem keeper who seems to be rated although I've not seen enough of him to judge.

Good reply PK, and now more than ever the "clubs", are investing big £££ on local talent spotters and recruitment programs.

All they do is hoover up as much as possible, then break the kids dreams, by buying a ready made player, rather than trying to nuture talent.

No wonder the national sides are shite, if they cannot get it right at ground level.

Agree. It's a sad state of things when local lads don't get the chance to advance enough.

Too many foreign players has damaged the ability of developing local lads.

Would love to see a rule coming in insisting on at least 5 British born players on the pitch. would lead to a step-up in their development from youth.

Well Boro are linked with Pardew today and aside from the comedy just keep on coming for us at the minute, it's well known that Parsnip thinks the local talent up here is lower class and not good enough.
