Cardiff v NUFC

Looking to break the away wins record which is currently tied at 13, we head to South Wales for the penultimate game of the season to play with the pressure off.

We do so with a few players out. Some because they've been playing with injuries and one other because of a ban.

Lascelles, Anita, Hanley and Dwight Gayle missing out with doctors notes and Matt Ritchie because he got a 2 match ban for a hissy in the tunnel after the Leeds game.

We will still have a strong side out with plenty of incentive to pressure Brighton into having to fight to win that division 2 trophy and maybe our best defensive partnership by accident with the chances of Chancel Mbemba being paired up with player of the season candidate, Ciaran Clark.

A load of people will be expecting Rafa Benitez to play the formation that they've been shouting for all season with a 4-4-2 but it wont happen although I wouldn't bet against Mitrovic and Murphy being paired together at some point in the game if there's a need.

As ever, Rafa's teams are usually impossible to get spot on but here's today's guess and no I haven't forgotten Shelvey, I just think he'll start from the bench.

Darlow
Yedlin, Mbemba, Clark, Dummett
Colback,
Atsu, Hayden, Gouffran
Perez
Murphy

I was nearly right as the keeper choice was a lottery.

Anyway, this is the starting XI.....

Elliot
Yedlin, Mbemba, Clark, Dummett
Colback
Atsu, Hayden, Diame,
Perez
Murphy

This is a not so veiled dig at the board by Rafa, look what you want me to take to the top league ! its poor if you take out our top performers.
But this selection has poo pooed a few of my bets i placed this morning though !!!

How poor is Atsu? he has been totally pants tonight. No need to sign him as he is on a par with Sammy Ameobi and behind a fit Aarons, infact an unfit Aarons would get in ahead of him.

I think Atsu offers more than both of them two, especially if you can get him out wide whipping on early crosses in. Great ball from Mbemba before and Clark should've buried it.

Fucking hell, slick one touch passing when the pressure's off. Always a pleasure to give a Warnock side a lesson.

Cardiff could have had a couple of goals, free headers. Atsu had a case for a penalty also

Congratulations. A record 14 away league wins. Considering our absolutely woeful away record last season that's some achievement.

I love watching a smug Benitez waddling round the pitch in a tight waistcoat post victory, a proper entertaining sight. Plants a little seed of doubt in Brightons psychie as well, you never know.

The most underrated player of the season for us because the comment is spot on. He allows others to do their jobs instead of others having to help out Colback when he's in the same position.

Also a mention for the ref. Warnock may have said he was shite but aside from us maybe having one or two penalty shouts, he was hardly noticed and on that score, he was decent for once. You can tell he's a premier league ref

From day one away at Fulham the minute Hayden got the ball you could tell he was a footballer, still a working progress and may never make it to the top tier, but changes the way we play and unlike Shelvey, never hides, even on an off day.
