Ipswich v NUFC
17 April 2017 17:06 Post ID: #479093 - in reply to #479052
On one hand you can blame Rafa and the tactics but the bloke is as stubborn as Pardew's persisting till something works to say 'I told you so', with his which are much more successful and we knew what to expect.

You could say that the players aren't matching the game plan as well because the majority have been labelled as not good enough by many and Rafa is hardly going to come out and say this although the reinforcements we needed in January are so evident now.

It's still in our hands amazingly and we can still afford to draw 1, even if Huddersfield win their 2 games in hand. A week's break and then it's going to be gamble time with the likes of Gayle having to be rushed back.

By the time we play at home to Preston next Monday night, the gap could be 2 points.

Surely a good manager would admit when his tactics are wrong and change them but benitez won't. If they blow this and don't go up benitez has to go down as one of the biggest bottlers of all time.

I still see them going up because Huddersfield surely will drop points.

We're devoid of leadership on the pitch and the management by the players of phases within the game is poor. Using today as an example we're ahead for just four minutes before Ipswich equalize. Lascelles form has gone, the defence in general has been disrupted by Clark's injury. Shelvey's not been at the races the last two games and Ritchie's looking absolutely shattered. Second half was big test and we failed it miserably. One point out of 9 available is worrying. Hearing Gayle's going to be risked vs Preston . Over to you Rafa .

If we were talking truths, Rafa would reference the lack of a January spend on top of certain players not being good enough but this wont get mentioned unless we dont go up.

Luckily there is a bit of a break for everyone now as it's getting needlessly tense when it's still massively in our hands.

No doubt that would be benitez excuse if they don't go up, but that would be just it an excuse because the buck stops with him. he is the manager, as they say you live by the sword you die by the sword, if they fail to go up he should admit its his fault. You cant blame fatty for the results on the field that's the managers domain, benitez knew what fatty is like regarding transfers.

It's so Newcastle United this, banker of the day was an Ipswich home win, especially when you saw that starting 11. Hindsight's a wonderful thing, but taking off Hayden and Ritchie Friday with today in mind worked wonders didn't it.

Only two teams can catch us mathematically and realistically just Huddersfield to have worries about.

You can blame Benitez for certain things with some tactics just horrible to watch regardless of their success rate. The need to strengthen was obvious to us all and was highlighted by Rafa back at Xmas.

If he didn't get what he wanted then it isn't his fault and the addition of Townsend, for example, would have seen promotion guaranteed by now.

You could also argue that maybe Benitez should have adapted his tactics to accommodate more attacking threat but with the season not quite done, we cant say for certain that he's failed.

To be honest half of me thinks Benitez has worked wonders getting us to second with that static excuse for a defence, but there's no doubt in my mind he's cost us with his subs and selections the last two games.

Derby have done us a little favour and nicked a draw against Huddersfield. So we're 6 points clear of Reading who are now 3rd and 7 points clear of Huddersfield with them having a game in hand .

5 points from 3 games needed to see us up by my reckoning and that's with the other two getting maximum from their remaining games, not even we can fuck that up, can we? Course we can, we're Newcastle.

Massive equaliser by Derby. Huddersfield at home to Fulham on Saturday and Fulham the best team we have seen at home all season. If Huddersfield fail to win then a home win on Monday will see us over the line. We don't want it going down to the wire, do we?

We're 2nd best in this league.

It's good enough.

Rafa is learning as much as what we are. That's a good thing, for next season. Some players are good enough - some simply are not.

Im delighted it's happening now, while it makes no shade of difference.

We're gonna finish 2nd. Let all the fuck-ups in his methods, and his choice of players, happen now.

On pay-day, do you give a fuck what happens at work 1 minute after you walk out? It's job done. Monday is Monday.

I hope we clinch it at Cardiff away, I've got a ticket for that one. Grimsby all over again

Seen some good analysis tonight that the way we are playing is so un-Rafa like. This can be explained in one or two ways.

Either the players aren't playing the tactics right and have to be nurtured through or that Rafa is making do with a squad that isn't good enough and cant find the right plan for them.

Whatever happens over the next three games, just one more win should complete the job and then there's a hell of a job on for someone to rebuild us. Ashley's cohorts moaning on about the petty cash tin being empty just wont wash, promotion or not, a low net spend will see us go backwards.

The goal by Derby was that big that we went from 1/10 to 1/100 to go up within a few seconds.

And a day later it's still 1/100. We are stumbling towards the line but the bookmakers think it's a forgone conclusion. Let's hope they are right.

Aye, the club will want to announce the new sponsorship deal and reveal the new kit on the back of some good news. They're fucked if we dont go up.

Bottling the league, may add to the pressure on fatty, to release big cash to attain survival next season.

Losing out on cash, as he did not spend in January window, will have the fat cunt spewing....
