Random quote: Platinii - I would prefer a coffee table at left back instead of Perch. I doubt even a coffee table could lose the ball twice in one move.

We've been hearing for a while now that a crest or logo change for Newcastle has been in the pipeline. Before we get our knickers in a knot and spout the usual stuff about Ashley ruining the club etc etc etc, we've had a few over the years and it is nowt new.

With it being the 125th year, next season, since Stanley FC who then became East End FC merged with the folding West End to form Newcastle United, there's talk of it being on the new strip.

According to the usual football kit rumour sites, it'll be a more traditional all black and white affair next time but our first strip was actually a red top with white shorts so if anything there'll be a chance that we could use one as an away kit with an excuse for once.

I'm always suspicious of badge changes. It's yet another moneymaking exercise. Also the trademark will belong to Mike Ashley .

Wey, the crest has been shown for the first time today and it's not as bad as feared. It also looks like it is sown on the new strips rather than the usual prit stick stuff.

It also looks like its red numbers on the back for the first time in ages.

Never want to see any imagery of James Perch in any sort of Newcastle United shirt (even that tat above). Fucking yard dog.

As daft as this sounds, he's a step up from Colback.

It's from 6 years ago so it's fine although a red away strip wouldn't surprise me as it's been over 40 years since the last if you discount that redcurrant one.

This is supposedly what next seasons home top looks like although one look at the club promo seems to show Dwight Gayle with an all black collar on.

Aside from that we've seen worse although that's before we see the new sponsor logo on or know what division we're in to wear it.

Do we have a 'commercial manager' whose job it is to attract sponsors ? It would be a surprise if it isn't a loan company, an on-line betting company or a brewery. How about a sportswear firm for a change?

Knowing the club, it'll be something like United Airlines.
