I wonder what the reaction would have been if Pardew was still manager and was spouting the company line.

Things clearly are not alright on the football side,a very taxing time ahead indeed.

The same reaction that any other fraud would get no doubt. We have no reason to doubt Rafa at all because everything he says is believable.

If im not mistaken, on the footballing side we've just been promoted and the premier doesn't start until August.

I knew YOU wouldn't get it.

Just a quick reminder about the footballing side....

Our owner, the one who's been responsible for TWO relegation's in less than a decade, publicly chastised his very proud and stubborn manager/stooge regarding his spending.

Do you see the problem ?

There is a a very good reason to doubt Benitez,he works for a crook, the same one Pardew worked for.

My opinion on Benitez has nowt to do with Ashley, the same as yours isn't with the style of football played.

Apart from that I'll agree to disagree as comparing our manager now with the likes of Parsnip just isn't worth the energy of fingers hitting the keyboard and that again is nowt to do with Ashley.

It's simple . Benitez is an acceptable balm or buffer partly in the way he does things and also because of his track record. He also comes over with integrity and is when it's all said and done a more likeable fellow as well as I suspect a far smarter operator and certainly a better manipulator of both the fans and the press. Whereas Pardew was far from those things, was often caught in lies and made to look a fool several times. Pardew lied for Ashley and did so repeatedly. To my knowledge Benitez hasn't although he's certainly very skillful at deflecting without embarrassing himself.

Ashley's still Ashley, the club operates more or the less the same as it always has under him (players sold at huge profit, younger players bought with potential for profit in years to come ). Benitez brought Ashley a huge let off last summer when it really should have been burning torches and pitchforks following the relegation. He's won Ashley promotion at first time of asking whilst making the club a tidy profit and kept the dissenting voices to a minimum whilst keeping the ticket sales high. As I've said previously Ashley would be daft to push Benitez to a constructive dismissal or activating his "control" clause. He's his perfect manager and he's pretty good in my opinion as well.

I don't know if you realise it,but you are agreeing with my point toony.

No can of worms, that's the way the world works,i'm sure most of us get that.

Which is why the Benitez fawning is nonsensical.

How stupid is it to tar Pardew with one brush while hailing Benitez as the messiah ?

15-0 to the Ashley

Hasn't there always been an argument that Ashley could find a manager that could work within his remit and still please the fans ? Is Benitez not perhaps that man ? For a very short time Keegan was. Was Keegan a crook for agreeing to the sale of Milner ? Was Hughton a crook for being left to pick up the pieces and lead us to promotion ? It's not just the doing of the job it's how the job is done isn't it ? All Benitez has done is do exactly what he set out to do which was win promotion. I've actually seen more Benitez negativity on here of late than fawning to be honest .

The problem on here is that anyone who criticises Benitez's tactics is accused of negativity.

Clearly the bloke has got us promoted, and clearly his tactics and football the majority of times has been dreary at best.

Another observation is that he has bought some crap into the club, nowt negative but a valid opinion.
Just think Sels, but even this cannot be debated without accusations of negativity.

Keegan took the crook to court so I don't get your point regarding him.

My overall sentiment remains the same, nothing is perfect and no one lives a life of perfection, not even rafa,he is not above criticism.

The slagging of Pardew and the fawning over Benitez for providing the same service is nonsensical and plays further if that's possible into Ashley's hands.

I quite agree nobody's above criticism and there have been numerous times this season and last when the criticism has been fair and warranted (I think we were both in agreement that the way team was set out against Villa last season when a win was vital was far too defensive). Over the course of this season despite the negatives he has got us promoted. Let's be honest though Piemag part of this is you just don't like/rate Rafa, that's fine, that's your judgement on the bloke. Just like I think Pardew's a shit manager and a cunt .

I don't dislike Benitez Keggy, and to be honest I didn't dislike Pardew either (dives for cover) my focus was/is always on Ashley.

I absolutely don't rate rafa, for the same reason I don't rate mourinho,it's a personal choice based on how I like my football.

For many of the positive things I read or here about him I have a different opinion based on certain facts, such as his reception in the last four-five clubs he managed, his record in the transfer market, tactics, etc etc.

Never on anything personal though, more of a counter argument to the adulation as well as the hypocrisy regarding Pardew.

You are right of course,it's about opinions, and I absolutely agree they go two ways,so I fear you are preaching to the wrong person.

I could point you to a couple of posters who need to understand the point we actually agree on though, especially when it comes to their blind defence of the messiah

So has Hughton and so will one other manager toony.

When Benitez actually does something in the premiership, then you can stop pissing on my head while telling me it's raining, and actually shout about his achievement.

And not just one poster, there was another one spamming the board about rafa the messiah, fuck me the two of you almost had me convinced crap football was exciting.

I'll keep on having my say though, unless you believe everyone should love rafa because he was successful in the past and comes across as a nice bloke.

Nowt wrong with having an opinion when it can be debated in a decent manner, which I think it has been may I add.

Aside from that, my view of Rafa and what he has achieved in such a small period of time is built against a supporting experience of over 40 years in which we've had some utter shite and a manager list of about 35 blokes. A view that I see Rafa's job only being about 5% through and a lot of improvement to come if it's allowed.

Do I believe Ashley has changed his spots? No I dont although I think he will be getting the hang of compromising a little to accumulate further down the line and whether by luck, fluke or whatever, he must surely view our boss as the link to salvation.

What I will state here and now, something that can be jotted down and used against me if we're all still bothering with this place or still alive but if and it's a massive IF, if Rafa is still here by the time he enters his 60's then I predict we will have won something. That's how confident I am in his building foundations.

Like anything being built, they may not look much when the scaffolding is on and the elements take their toll on the job but when it's finished they usually look the business. Our work in progress can only really be judged by how it looks in certain stages and to be promoted in the timescale that was the target, then it cant be faulted one bit.

Also when something is being built and the company stops providing the right materials then it ultimately falls down. Whether this is a successful project or not depends on one man and that isnt Rafa

So, Luke Edwards reckons Rafa will have a £70m kitty this Summer plus whatever he makes in sales although in the next breath says that crunch talks are ahead in the meeting with him and Ashley.

Interesting choice of quotes PieMag, even with Rafa rose tinted goggles on, you can clearly read which one of those blokes demands respect and the other just there as a stooge.

Words can be twisted many ways but when you have the bigger picture to look at, something that fans of a club are usually the only ones that see, it backs the method up.

Pardew was here to deflect the shite and try to get people to accept that just being in this league with little effort to try was acceptable whilst Rafa wont put a limit on any direction.

Again, a pointless debate as the comparison is a million miles apart but with time at a premium today, I know i'll enjoy today no matter what scenario pans out. Dont think I ever thought that under Pardew.

It's a pointless debate for those that want to blot out reality, ignore Ashley and live in hope that a manager that could not even get a team like Real Madrid to play football will relive past successes and lead our club to glory.

“Newcastle United is a big club where we have to now manage maybe the expectations as some people will be expecting and thinking…‘Oh we have to challenge and maybe be in Europe.’

“Some people though will be happy just avoiding relegation.

“So we have to make sure the message is the right message, that the fans understand that the best way to go as high as you can in the table is to stay calm, to support the team and keep the professionals doing their job.

His words translated from Ashley speak into English........

No Europe, no relegation, mediocrity.

Isn't his contract only a two year one ?
