Technically the transfer window only reopened this week but the lack of movement, albeit not exactly unsurprising, has been disappointing to say they least. That being said, can you be surprised by something if you weren't expecting much?

Fear not as an 'influx' of signings is forecast this coming week.... We'll see arrivals from Holland, France and the mighty Northampton! QPR's Charlie Austin could be confirmed but Moussa Sissoko is off to Liverpool.

So as tnmw pointed out in the 'new signing' thread this is all bollox. Except maybe the Northampton bloke. That could be true.

The kid from Northampton suits our criteria - £700k transfer fee, cheap wages, no agent fees and possible resale value.

I live quite close to Northampton. Round here they're talking about £300K with future add ons. Carr still lives locally and regularly attends the Cobblers. He's a bit of a legend in these parts. As for the player - 19, quick, hotheaded. Scored 17 goals in 29 starts and 31 subs. Added to that David Cardoza, the chairman, is trying to flog the club to a bunch of Asians and he's trying to recoup money he put into the club. Money wise, he's small time and is probably feeling the pinch. As Vin says, right up Ashley's street.

I do live in Northampton and actually met the kid about eight weeks ago - he is a friend of my nephew and was going to play five a side with us until the club he
put the mockers on it as he'd only just signed a contract. Came across very well and as Harry says, very highly rated by the cobblers fans I know even though he's only just starting. See Carr regularly and he's always very professional and gives next to nowt away if quizzed.

I don't mind the club taking a punt on a talented British youngster. I'd rather they did that than bring in french journeyman no 402 . Will he be given games to develop though ? I suspect this is the tactic behind the Mclaren appointment . This squad is so far from being able to contend for safety at the moment that unless there's big changes it'll be a case of blooding them in a relegation battle.
