Just signed for Villa. Would he have been a good signing for SDU? I'll stick my neck out and say yes, he would've been a fantastic signing for free.

Villa outdoing SDU already.

Got to admit i thought he had the potential to be a world class player, i don't know the in's and outs of his career but agree he would have been a good freebie although we know that they cost a lot of money.

Yeah, he had loads of promise but was unfortunate to be at City when they started splashing the cash. Would certainly be a great signing for SDU in my opinion. But then again, my opinion is worthless compared to the proven track record of Lee Charnley. After all, he's the genius behind Riviere and the likes.

Richards is a perfect example as to why English players should not join one of the big clubs.

We know he's been there for years and came through the ranks but for him to have only played 9 league games in around 4 years and this after he captained them at one point, is nowt short of a disgrace, he's been basically left to rot for some reason although has featured in the odd cup game.

For a club desperate for home grown players, it seems as if something's gone on somewhere. Id have steered clear and that's before you mention wages.

Must be more to it as Kompany has been injured quite a bit.

He looked a very good player at one point. Well worth a gamble. Seems every club but us is making positive moves.

I hope the media turns on Ashley in a big way as they have a direct quote about "strapping the horse onto the cart"

Speaking from an optimistic point of view, there's a few done nowt yet with others 'signings' joining on July 1st. With this in mind and our track record of announcing nowt, maybe this will be the date that the first of our signings are announced.

The 'feel good' factor brought around may entice those who haven't renewed their season tickets into re-signing up, although then on different deals costing them more cash in the long run.

Hasn't he been on loan at Fiorentina this season? Clearly he's good enough then.

There's still something up though as the other centre back for Man City, Demichelis, has been ridiculed from time to time and labelled a liability.

It makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes, what with that Micheal Johnson lark. He was destined for England stardom but is now an estate agent and still only a year older than Richards.

There's a reason his career's gone down the shitter, a well known arrogant arsehole who threw his career away years ago, there is an argument that players learn from their mistakes as they get older and he may turn out to be a good signing, but I'm not convinced, much like their manager, another knobhead in the Pardew mould, let's see what happens.

Is Colo still the top earner at the club? Perhaps it's a wage thing.. that they only want platers happy to play for 40k a week or less. Wasn't Cabaye on about 25k?

In no way justifying their salaries but if some of those dipshits can earn mad money he should really have been on more.

A decent manager shouldn't be afraid of a challenging player . Richards was guilty of youthful arrogance at one point but was also misused and mismanaged by a series of foreign managers preferring expensive foreign imports. Looked a cracking right back and has also played centre half which is where i would expect him to wind up. Better than anyone we have at present.

Sherwood has stated he'll be playing him centre half. Just what Newcastle needed, a quick, strong, good centre half. Could've taken Vlaar alongside him too but I guess they just couldn't get them over the line.

Maybe he didn't fancy playing up here in the north east. Was it last season or the season before when he said that playing at the stadium of shite was the coldest he had ever been when playing? Comes to something mind when the 2 teams fighting over his signature finished below us last season.

Would have been a good signing for sports direct, class centre back, good on the deck & in the air.
However, wages probably too high for porky even tho they could have got him on a free & they can play dummet alongside colo against any top class strikers, there's a couple of pacy centre backs, formidable.
