'Sheep' is a word often used on here to describe those who continue to pay money to Mike Ashley to watch his version of Newcastle United.

There are indeed thousands who are disillusioned, many of whom have given up. We do however, have more than our fair share of sheep. I don't mean all of those who still attend, but those who really can't extend themselves to think about it all, and form their own opinion.

One of my mates, who I wouldn't classify as a sheep, has jacked it in, and even feels relieved now that he's seen his last game. He always disliked the regime, but couldn't give up going. After murmurings from him for two years on and off about leaving, he finally snapped this year and wrote to them.

Another one of my mates, who goes with his son, and is completely incapable of forming his own opinion, has gone from asking me if I wanted to take our other mate's ticket up (He really doesn't know me or get it at all, does he?), to mentioning about the prospect of cancelling for the first time ever.

Now this is a man who simply cannot put the 2 (The support and money he gives to the club) together with the other 2 (The shit way everything is being run) to make 4.

It simply doesn't occur to him that each and every fan is contributing to this situation continuing by 'supporting' the club.

You could have knocked me down with a feather when he said this, as I thought he would still be there when it was down to about 200 fans attending a game.

It got me onto thinking, perhaps this is the start of the main body of sheep following the breakaway herd? We know they're nervous creatures, and basically just follow the main bunch when frightened, but maybe this is the start of the big split?

What's happening out there in the real world? Do you know people who have recently left, or newly appointed waverers?

It's obvious from the shite coming out of Ashley's PR machine, that they are genuinely worried. There must be a few thousand not renewing at least.

I'd love it if it was ten thousand.. Love it!

At one time I couldn't count how many people i knew that went or would gladly snap up a spare if one ever came up but now the amount of people I know that attend can be counted on one hand.

If the true figure of actual season tickets available is ever shown on the official website then I reckon people will be shocked. Even last year and the season before, I reckon the figures weren't great.

we have given up our season ticket after 12 years , only way we come back is FCB invests this season but a few seasons and only then will we get it again .
this season has been an eye opener never ever thought I would not be bothered about NUFC been a supporter since I was about 7 or 8 I am 63 in August now .
I have lived through some terrible owners but FCB takes the biscuit .

I won't put a penny directly in the fat bastards pocket, but sadly I suppose I remain one of the sheep in a way because I pay my Sky Sports subscription every month. I hate doing it but what can you do?

Go to the pub and watch it... 400 people in a bar, therefore 400 subscriptions gone whilst helping local businesses.

TBH mate I vary rarely watch football on the TV these days. I think premiership football generally is a pile of shite. I would miss the cricket mainly if I stopped paying the subs.

There are plenty of 'hard core', 'dyed in the wool' fans out there that fully understand the situation but CHOOSE still to go

They CHOOSE still to go because it's what they've done for most of their lives while Newcastle have largely been shit

The same kind of fans most of us have been proud to be associated with when we were in the doldrums but still taking 6 - 10,000 away to shit holes down the country

Agree for some of them it is a way of life, but for the other 40,000 winnits and cling ons, what is their excuse????

No backbone, and a disgrace to the North East comes to mind.....

As Mac said "They choose to go because it',so what they've done for most of their lives while Newcastle have mainly been shit".
He's been going since he was a 12yr old bairn,he's now 56.
A funny, warm, intelligent kid, hates fatty but has a blind spot when it comes to renewing, tried to persuade him otherwise but he's having none of it.If he wore a wonga top as well I think the friendship would be in jeopardy.
As for my youngest he hasn't been for around 5 years but still got excited when mc clown signed,I told him to fkn behave himsel.

But how many fans have jacked it in who have been going longer than he has. They were there when it was shite too but they have stopped because of the way fatty is ruining the club.

All i can say is if he comes and moans on to you about how shite it is in the future all you have to say is, well if you and a lot more didn't renew he'd sharp be gone. None of this crap regarding TV money, an empty ground will do more to get shot of fatty than a more or less full house.

Let them get on with it its pointless trying anymore.
