Both sacked. Looks like we're getting that new tactical approach.

Confirmation that Steve McClaren is coming to Newcastle is expected later this week when he returns from holiday, but John Carver isn't staying on as part of his coaching staff and nor is Steve Stone.

His phone will be ringing off the hook now man, Bayern, Barca, Madrid, they will all be after the best manager around. That's if he doesn't decide to take up pro golf instead like. Joking apart glad to see the back of the two useless cxnts.

Could well be out on their ears according Luke Edwards of The Telegraph.

First it was Pardew, then it was Carver.

It's difficult to predict who the next hate figure will be

I can tell you all for certain who it won't be.

Ashley.

Carver is merely a symptom whilst Ashley is the cause.

We can all agree that McLaren is a better coach than Pardew. I was worried Carver would remain but it finally looks like the club have seen a little sense.

It's a glimmer of hope that we haven't had in many years. I suspect some decent rebuilding will follow. Until we see the fruits of that I refuse to be negative about it. This has been a good day for the club.

Whilst it does seem that we're at the crossroads between positive and negative, just wait until the day after tomorrow (season ticket renewal day) when it's confirmed that it is in fact, Carver, that has the head job after all.

I wouldn't put it past wor shower

When Ashley goes some would say it will be a great day. Personally I think it's a good day as Carver and Stone have been sacked and the new coaches wil be a considerable step up. At least the Manager is allowed to bring in his own men and not have existing crap forced upon him. That must be a plus.i am not going to be negative, it's a small step but wait and see the transfer activity and see how things turn out. Don't pre judge.

The obvious negative is right there in front of you though Owl...

We were led to believe that one of the main stumbling blocks preventing a top manager coming in was that they would want their own backroom staff to come with them (not uncommon in football). It's even been reported that that was the very reason the Vieirra talks didn't amount to much.

Allowing McClaren to bring his own men with them just seems like a kick in the nuts considering we could have attracted far better up amd coming managers if Ashley has indeed relaxed his policy

I've no idea if Carver and Stone were as bad as has been made out because Newcastle United is far from a level playing field when it comes to judging ability......in exactly the same way I remain to be convinced that whoever does come in with McClaren will fair any better

Carver and Stone had no success anywhere whereas McClaren has had success, true he has failed as well. I saw absolutely nothing in Carver and Stone that suggested improving the team and their coaching and Carvers mouth were full of crap.
At least McClaren is a respected coach which will help on tactics and recruitment. Who would have joined the mess with Carver in charge?
I guess we have to wait and see.
