Is It Vieria ??
29 May 2015 20:14 Post ID: #459322
The odds on favourite for next Newcastle United manager is currently Steve McClaren with Skybet having him 4/11 . Then it's everyone's favourite gadgie John Carver at 5/1 . The puzzling thing is that Patrick Vieira seems to be 3rd favourite at 6/1. I've not seen one story linking him to Newcastle United nor any pundit mention him. Has someone with inside knowledge placed a large punt on the former Arsenal man ? I see no other reason as to why he'd be considered third favourite. We know the Fatman himself likes a wager. For now file this under rampant speculation but it's one of the strangest links out of nowhere I've seen currently .

I saw Viera linked with another job the other day and thought it was a strange choice considering he's not a manager, then again, neither is Carver.

May as well offer it to Joey Barton.

Couldn't see someone of Vieras standing working for the fat slug hence why we will end up with a manager in the Pardew / Carver mould i.e. will do exactly as they are told.

Oddschecker have McClaren 1/6 and Viera 2/1. Laudrup is now 8/1 third. Hmm, all is not lost yet

If anything, an appointment of Viera would raise the profile again and command instant respect from players that actually know what their boss did in the past.

Just what we need, oozes authority and class and still a better footballer than any of our lot.
I suspect they will go for Maclaren the easy option though and somebody else will reap the benefit of Viera.
Remember Keegan had no managerial experience and look what he did.

Am I right with my interpretation of what is being written here ?

Viera/ or other high profile name/ or successful manager + Michael Ashley would = okay ?

This must be one of Michael's favourite sites.

It will be McClaren mate if not Carver. he will wait till the ST are in then he will announce he decided to give it to Carver, so he could prove he isn't as fucking gash as he was last season.

It could be Pep Guardiola bb,but with Ashley in charge it would mean nothing.

Unfortunately for our club there are too many who actually believe in the greedy, selfish, lying, fat twat.

They actually think he is capable of doing right by us by employing a good manager and support staff

Don't get me wrong Piemag, if Vieira's appointed it changes nothing in regards to how I view Ashley and his cronies. Vieira's also completely unproven as a manager . Though on purely footballing terms I'd see it as better option than McClaren or Carver.

Viera would be the better option as appointing him would signal a change in direction.

With absolutely no chance that Viera would work with Carver or any of the other hangers on, this would be the sticking point and sole reason would I think it's a ploy to smoke out McClaren.

That said, im sure we'd all welcome a new direction to bring around fresh negativity instead of the same script being done to death.

The only thing that will convinced there has been a change in direction is when the 150 million net spend is made which is a bare minimum to what is needed.

While you could well be right in regards to drawing out McClaren (Nufc.com also speculate as much) how do you know Vieira won't work with Carver, Stone, Beardsley and Watson ?

I didn't kk,
and furthermore could not fail to agree that an ambitious sort like Viera would be better than a McClaren,JC, or Pardew type appointment.

My point was/is aimed at anyone who actually believes that Ashley will do the right thing.

It's not going to happen.

The bloke is a master at what he does, that is evident when reading through the very confusing posts on this and the other board.

On one hand he is the fat, selfish, greedy bastard that has fucked us over time and time again.

On the other hand, he might now actually(after a series of mini but obviously effective uprisings) be changing direction and is suddenly desperate for us to win something or challenge for the CL

Even if he lied through his teeth (again) and persuaded someone with talent/ambition/motivation to take the position, they would invariably end up in the same predicament Keegan found himself in.

If Vieira was appointed then it is almost guaranteed he will be gone in 6 months, just can't see him swallowing the bullshit from Ashley and co when they fail to get any of his transfer targets "over the line". Lets not forget Ashley is a lying cunt.

I'd be astonished if Vieira would come from a professionally run club like Shitty to a club where he's got to answer to a bloke who knows fuck all about football. A smokescreen for a Mclaren appointment and another wasted opportunity.

With the playing pedigree that Viera has, I reckon for his first proper shot at management that he wont want a backroom staff consisting of shit tactics and to come up short in some departments. He'll want to bring his own lot in and for that reason, it'll be a surprise to me if McClaren isn't giving a press conference by the weekend.

The only doubting point in my mind and the 0.00000001% chance that there was some truth in Ashley's words last week is that the near relegation may have scared him into losing what he has here and the potential of losing hundreds of millions of pounds over the next few years from the ever increasing premier league cash pot.

For the sake of a tiny bit of ambition or a new face to shake the cobwebs off the club, he'll surely have been advised by one of his lot that it makes sense.

If it's McClaren with the same staff as what we have now then it's the usual gamble.

Meanwhile, yet another club, Derby, manages to replace their manager within a week and for the well in demand Paul Clement as well, whilst 'we' drag the feet saving cash and so far taking SIX months.

Part of me gets a little bit excited about the prospect (however small) of the new coach being Vieira, who are we kidding though, why would he want to come here though, lets be honest, no, Steve McClaren will be the one, that firs in with Ashley's kind of model, honestly, who could see Vieira working under a guy like Charnley?

Still 50k sheep will trot up every other week no matter who the manager is. fatty really can do what he wants and the sheep will take it up the shitter .i couldn't give a shite who the next manager is it makes no difference in the grand scheme of things, fatty is still the owner and he takes the piss out of the sheep that go.

just a shame the club wasn't playing the likes of the boro next season instead of man city and their ilk.

The penny has dropped hence the fat cunts interview, the extension of the season ticket deadline and the Vieira story. I just don't see SDU changing their modus operandi and allowing a coach to have a huge input into incoming and outgoing transfers. Vieira's name will still be in the frame until the 10th June and once the ST deadline has passed Mclaren will be appointed.
