Random quote: Keggy Keegal on Pardew saying we 'rebooted' - yeah we rebooted then Carver pressed Ctrl, Alt, Delete brought the task manager up and we could see Colo was using too much ram , so we ended the process and erm we're unlucky not to get something

There's still time yet for 'Schteve' to turn it down, leaving Carver as the only option due to the regime running out of time.

Manx, I'm sitting on the balcony of my room in Spain at this moment, half pissed, enjoying me jollies but thoughts still come back to the Toon. This could and should have been a kick start for a scenario similar to when Kev came in 92. But we all know that the 'gamble' of Viera was not on the agenda. Wish I didn't feel this way

I would laugh if he turned us down.
Apparently Carver is going to advise him on the way forward despite him taking us backwards.

Nothing will change with Ashley as owner, it's just like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. The people who are failing are still steering the ship.

The McClaren appointment is nothing for people to be mad over really as the signs have been there for months.

The only surprise, in my eyes, is that the club is getting a current manager in regards to having been employed with a decent enough pedigree and one that wont be ridiculed as much as the likes of JFK, Pardew, Carver etc. This is probably the best it is going to get under Ashley but with an expected change of approach on the playing field or in regards to tactics, it'll be a refreshing change to see the end of the containment crap.

The most interesting factor in all this is the manager is usually in charge of the coaching staff, although not here but if McClaren sees issues with his ideas not being implemented to his standard, we could see cracks appearing fairly soon.

That said, I could think of worse names we could have ended up with.

Also to add, whilst people are 'coming to terms' with something we've known about for 6 months, just wait until the Mackems make McClaren an offer that he cant refuse and then we stick with Carver on an interim basis whilst a 'new' shortlist is drafted up and a manager search that will last 5 years.

Truthfully im just sick of it not being about the football up here but no matter which boss comes in, if he isn't given the right tools to do a job, it wont matter what we want.

As for Ashley, I dont think im the only one that thinks he's here until his association with Shite Direct ends, whether that be liquidation or a company sale. Nothing that happens on the pitch will make him sell in my opinion.

On saying that, whether McClaren comes in, signs 15 players and gets us in a decent position or not, I wont be changing my mind over attendance under Ashley's reign. Regardless of all the shite and corruptness, I still find myself wanting the team to do well though.

I find it very odd that any half decent manager would come and work for these amateurs and the restraints imposed. Surely they'd tell them to fuck off if they can't bring in their own backroom staff at least.

Exactly what I've been babbling for ages (seemingly). Think it is absolutely bizarre that McClaren would even consider working under the restraints/constraints that he'll have to 'endure' here. Maybe he see's it as an opportunity to prove a bit of something knowing that everyone else knows what the constraints are.
The only feckers I thought the porcine one would be able to attract would be some foreign unknown.
or Carver.

The only hope I have , my one one ray of light is the fact if we drop so low that local rags hardly pay us any attention he will lose interest and we will lose so much value to him and we can rebuild by him selling to a local consortium

Ha!Ha! glad to see you're still with us! had me worried there man! Trust you're enjoying your hols!

Aye - we know the score I'm afraid. A pathetic PR stunt by ashley and - hey presto! absolutely nothing. Save a little less hope.

We all need to realise ashley is not going anywhere - not now and not anytime soon and probably never and certainly too late for most of us. NUFC is dead as we knew it. We have been replaced and I wouldn't go back anyway. Why we are wasting our time on this, I don't know. There is only one answer beyond carrying on shaking our fists at the sheep and that's to leave them behind and form our own club. Trying to win back something that's dead is pointless and a total waste of energy.

Cheers Finn,
Talking, albeit in broken English to a Norwegian football fan at the hotel ( who has 1875 tattooed on his upper arm). Turned out he follows Blackbun and was asking me if McClaren had been appointed. He reckoned Ashley was better than the Venkey's. Could be a long day tomorrow!
