Random quote: Keggy Keegal on Pardew saying we 'rebooted' - yeah we rebooted then Carver pressed Ctrl, Alt, Delete brought the task manager up and we could see Colo was using too much ram , so we ended the process and erm we're unlucky not to get something

Shocking and sad news Toony. If The Chief's email address is connected to the ISP e.g. Chief@talktalk/sky/virgin etc etc it is possible to contact the ISP in question to pass on requests. Has to be done formally though so may take some time.

Alternatively why not try his other sites like Footymad to see if anyone knows his surname. I'm guessing that if the title of the email sent to you was "Gilly" his surname might be Gilligan, Gilzean, Gil something ? If his christian name was Neil it might help narrow it down a bit ?

If you know he lived here in the North East, I'll check the local papers for notices ?

Tragic news to hear of one taken so young, I can't imagine what his family are going through. I only hope he's in a better place. RIP.

Have been actively searching for details including speaking to rival forums to piece together the clues but so far, we're at a dead end.

He was known as Ian on footymad and Neil on here, so unless the person that contacted me when i was out, the other night, writes something or emails, then we're knackered.

His account has been used since the other day on regular occurances and can mean only a few things.

Either his internet link had us down as the home page and it automatically brings us up.

A family member is reading in for some sort of comfort.

or, someone is trying to tell us something but it is too difficult.

Whatever it is, im sure with our help, we can make things easier.

Without really wanting to get into reasons why im not saying too much about Orca's identity, with a bit of investigation work and help from Toonlegend (June) on a rival site. We've managed to pretty much work out who he is or was.

It's pretty certain that he's dead and his funeral is this Friday, 29th August 2014 at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Hebburn at 1.30pm, followed by Interment at Hebburn Cemetery at 2.15pm.

He told the truth about his first name on here as well. RIP Neil.

Thanks but ive really done nothing apart from report on sad news. It will be given the respect that The Chief earned on here though.

I will be making an alteration to the tribute at the top of the screen that is shown now and then as a way of remembrance but the reality that this brings is that death is a part of life although too common at present, especially with NUFC fans.

Hopefully we can report on happier times in the weeks and months ahead as we've had far too much misery.

Still a bit cut up about this having learnt a bit more about the lad. I was thinking of going to his funeral but thinking maybe the next home game we could meet up and say fair well in a bar or two to orca.

We've lost two of the best posters on here, and both well before their time.

Still can't quite believe it, as it was so out of the blue. Always felt like I almost knew the lad. The kind you know would be good crack over a pint, even if you differed on opinion.

RIP Neil

Next home game is Saturday v Palace.

Might be a bit late to rally the troops for that game, but maybe the away game v Saints (13th September) or the Hull game (20th September)

I think the Hull game is the best option myself, but open to suggestions.

If the detective work is right, Chief's funeral kicks off around now, on the same day that the memorial garden has been unveiled for Alder and Sweeney.

I haven't managed to find any notices so assume that it is a family affair. I'm sure that our thoughts will be with them all this afternoon.

Internment is 2:15pm.

We'll find a fitting way to remember him by in the days or weeks ahead but something multi-forum based could be the direction we take.

RIP Chief.

Very sad news. Condolences to family and friends.

The first thing that came to my mind was a true supporter who hasn't outlasted the current set up at the club we all love. Better days will be ahead, lets hope the vast majority on here get to see them.

I get where Bob is coming from. It's always a tricky one when we only knew the lad 'online'.

It is linked to reality and even moreso when you meet up in the flesh but there is a bit of a difference with this and BBM in that we still know very little about Orca. In that sense, it's difficult to pay tribute in the real world.

Likewise I trawled the obituaries yet again first thing this morning.

On balance, I decided that if there were no notices, the family would probably have preferred it to be a quiet affair.
