I don't think it can be ruled out just yet tho.

This.

It was the firing shot of either a long drawn out saga or a smokescreen to lower the de jong price or fish out other bidders for AC, thus increasing our cut.

As ever in regards to NUFC, life is never boring.

OR they rejected it because they realised it would be a bit silly loaning a player to a club who could be their main rivals for a CL place,..loaning carroll to wet spam would make more sense

20 million missing ? Cisse cost 9 million

I think you'll find that Mr Branson paid for Cisse. But you keep believing that Mike and Del are great for this club.

Mirror headline tomorrow on back page

"Retoon of the King". Deary me.

Question I'd if we are willing pay 17m for AC why dong we up thr bid for De Jong

Liverpool made the error buying him, we shouldn't be bailing them out

Ashley probably thinks if he gets Carroll back he can get away with out getting any others in, as the fans favourite will have returned.

We wouldnt be bailing them out if we got him for 10-15 mill, remember they paid 35 for him, thats a 20-25 mill loss on their part, difference between De Jong and AC is that AC has scored goals for us and was on the way to becoming a proven premiership striker when he left, Dont get me wrong, I would have De Jong tomorrow but if it turns out that AC is the man we get in I would be more then happy with that, and I genuinely believe that he could really prove some doubters wrong if he were to come back

Would not want them to fork out for AC at the expense of strengthening the defence, which is a priority and much needed.

£17 million The Journal reckons.
After reading all these posts I dont know what to think, should it happen, one side says a step backwards, and is he really THAT good, and the other... this could just be what he needs, back home, happier and ready for a fresh start.

As we reported on June 11 in light of interest from AC Milan, the door has always been ajar for Carroll with the striker returning to his beloved St James’ Park on several occasions as a guest in the executive area.

His friendship with Toon managing director Derek Llambias, Pardew and his former team-mates – not to mention John Carver, the man who prevented the club from losing him for free in 2004 during his stint as Academy chief – has remained untarnished.

He just wants him out,..no fucking about with loan deals,..just OUT!!

That has to dent Carrolls confidence the fact he hasnt even given him the opportunity to prove what he can do,.rodgers has clearly seen enough last season and had his mind made up when he took the job that he wanted him out the door asap..

shit happens Andy lad

I'll hazard s guess that 13 mil allied with his desire to return 'home' might bd enough to secure it.

Wider issue is will he be welcome and would his arrival upset the Applecart?

Plus there is all thd baggage of him being England player.

If Liverpool sell him for £18 million next summer then they break even in FFP terms, if they sell him this year it is more like £24 million to break even.

It is odd that they'd be willing to pay 13 million (for the sake of argument) for carroll yet wouldn't stump that up for de jong. Ok carroll scored a lot of goals for us, but De jong looks a better prospect (and as far as i'm aware is better behaved off the pitch). On another point with this carroll saga, seen a couple of stories saying west ham are lining up a club record 15 million pound bid for him, where the fuck are they getting that kind of money from when they've only just come back up from the championship?

Wages & terms all agreed, just the clubs haggling over the fee.

Liverpool want 20 million,we'll only offer 15.

All from Marc Walton who used to play with carroll in the youth team

Twitter claims

This is from a lad called Marc Walton, a mate of Carroll from nufc youth days.

Walton has tweeted that the wages are agreed. AC wants to come back but the fee is not agreed.

We are offering 15m and they want 20.

A big issue in regards to us doing a deal with the bindippers is that they still owe us money for AC from his original transfer. Id love to know how much. Off the top of my head, we may have been paid £15 million up front, then 2 installments of £10 million may have been due. Maybe there's still £10 million to pay or something. It just seems strange that a £17 million fee has been mentioned. It could be £10 million owed plus £7 million from Demba Ba going. PSG still the most likely destination.

That Marc Walton is probably winding people up. He reckons AC is getting the 24 shirt and Tiote is getting Guthrie's old number 8.
