Random quote: Platinii - I would prefer a coffee table at left back instead of Perch. I doubt even a coffee table could lose the ball twice in one move.

Tomorrow Journal headline I'd laughable about needing a Plsn B?

We are utterly hopeless in the transfer market in terms of these key areas every man and his dog knows needs strengthening

Seems like this story will run until Friday night when we'll either make a signing or 'put it on the back burner' until January.

This from tomorrow's Journal.

From what i can make out in the article, it says the club believe that they have done enough to keep our blue chip players. Also, unless Lille drop their demands then Debuchy wont be coming but the main bit is that we STILL have an interest in AC.

Will we be happy with him in and losing no one? Id take that to be honest as long as we got Debuchy in January.

No I would not be happy. Douglas is not coming, Debuchy is not coming. Pardew stated at the end of last season that the squad had to be strengthened, it hasn't been. No new fullbacks, no central defender and no striker so far.
Just absolute rubbish about fearing a bid.
If nobody leaves Pardew will be crowing about being happy with his squad and after wins against the Greeks and Villa, 2 poor sides, so will some fans.
We already have Ameobis sidelined with injury, if Colo or Taylor get injured we have Williamson and Perch neither top quality. An injury to one of the strikers and we are up the creek, an injury to Ben Arfa and no other creative force. These injuries and suspensions are likely to happen throughout the season and the backup has to be quality not average if we are to maintain or progress.
No incomings and we will finish 8th/9th at best.
Of course they still have time and that would put a different perspective on things.

There will be better strikers than Carroll around at half the price it would cost to get him back here.I hope we get one.

That would be fine by me too,..but feel that Tiote will be sold to fund the Carroll re-signing,

Interesting point pardew makes at the end of that article about our targets being secure at their clubs, this from the same man who has essentially invited bids for our players when in reality they should be "secure" here, surely if we make a good enough bid with regards to fee and personal terms, we get the player. Can't be that difficult. Carroll was never realistically gonna happen, liverpool were never gonna take that big a hit, and certainly not if it was us who was buying him

3 Red Herrings:
Debuchy- we were never going to pay the price
Douglas - wasn't interested despite what he was quotyed as saying
AC- Liverpool were never going to let him come back to us on the cheap as they saw it.

Time wasted on these to make it look as though we were active.
Mention of the incomings we have recruited but not of the departures.
End result, no progress in fact regression.

so they keep him,..and then what??
rodgers doesnt want him, does he still play him even though he clearly does not fit in with his chosen tactics??

they will have to take the big hit at some point, cos at this moment in time he is not valued by anyone at £20m, and if he has another shite season there, on the bench, or starting games but not scoring and becoming more and more frustrated his value will drop further.

best take the hit now and move on

Tbh i agree with you brassy, and you're right the longer he stays there drifting in and out of the team (at best) the further his value falls and for all that time they're forking out for his wages, it would make more financial sense to sell now. It's pride that's the real problem. We're the only club interested (or the only place carroll would be willing to go), and i have little doubt that liverpool's owners will refuse point blank to have their pants royally pulled down by ashley for a second time, over the same player

The only hope on this deal is that Pardew was bluffing the media and that deadline day pressures will see a deal reached at the 11th hour.

It's off, it's on, it's off.... fuck knows the score at present but the Liverpool local media are saying that the bindippers will bid for Theo Walcott if they can get rid of AC.

Oh well, only 48 and a half hours more of the rumours to run.

not to mention that he's not in the Europa league squad for their game vs Hearts..

there's talk of West Ham making a final bid as well.

even if we finish top 3 we still have a fat odious cunt of an owner, that's enough to keep me away until he's dead or gone.i'd prefer dead though.

Stories doing the rounds this morning that liverpool have now said they want rid and have offered him to us and West ham. No figures mentioned like, but apparently rogers has been told he has to sell players if he wants to sign dempsey and walcott. Foolish move to offer him to us, one thing i'd never do in dealing with the fat man is weaken my negotiating position

Aye, was always gonna be a case of brinksmanship and who blinks first, and it seems it's liverpool. What strengthen's ashley's hand further is that carroll has already turned down west ham, so liverpool are going to have deal with us if they want shot of him

Can I just reiterate that Andy Carroll has no intention of going anywhere except NUFC. He will not move that far away from his children unless his ex fiance and him can work something out. Which judging by her updates isn't going to happen anytime soon.

good shout OM,..makes sense for him to be closer to his baby, although hadnt she said that she hopes he goes to london or the further away from her he is the better?
