Andy Carroll - This saga just wont go away.

I would be happy to Andy Carroll return to Newcastle but, in my opinion, no way is he worth any more than £7m. He's scored 37 goals for Newcastle and Liverpool and 17 of them were in the Championship! Don't get me wrong, he's a good player but is nowhere near as good as Ba or Cisse. People are quoting £15M etc, I don't know where they get that figure from.

Carroll says he only wants a loan move.

Either hedging his bets or trying to shore up the nufc position

Liverpool got royally fucked over when they bought him. No way they're going to make it an easy deal. Can't see them doing a loan or accepting the rumoured 13 million bid.
Unless they need the cash to do other deals, he might have to stew until January.

In hindsight, Andy Carroll made a big footballing mistake leaving us. At this rate he'll end up like another Shaun Wright Philips, talented but he'll be 30 before he knows it and his career will be as good as over. He should be begging to come back here.

What happens if he requests a transfer and tries to force a move?

He would NEVER do that! Man of principle is our Andy.

I'd have him back even though he is a pay-day mercenary - let's just accept they all are.
Think I was one of the few on here who did not slam the fatbastard - good bit of business selling the useless twat for £35m and buying the repentant twat back for £15m ish

In the press this morning, Rodgers back tracking over his comments that carroll isn't in his plans. Think the owners may have had a word. Ashley and lamearse trying to squeeze them and get the fee down as they know carroll wants to leave. If rodgers says he wants to keep him it strengthens their position.... although they clearly don't know ashley very well as he'll say stuff you and walk away if he feels he's not getting what he wants from the deal

He isnt coming, too expensive. Time to move on and get players in before the start of the season. we are light in key areas at the moment. Any injuries to major players and we will be struggling.

As the dust is settling on the original rumour linking us with Carroll, ive had time to reflect.

I actually think we are after him and on reading Pardew's latest ramblings, i reckon it's a striker and 2 defenders then window closed on the first team unless we sell someone for an inflated fee.

Debuchy will cost £6 - £7 million, Douglas around £4 million with AC setting us back around £10 - £12 million after the sell on clause and other fees are taken into account. A £30 million spend this Summer including those already gone. This money is available either in tax repayments anyway or by being freed up by extra deals/prize money.
The message sent out to AP that we want Champions league football for next year. Unofficially the players have said the target is top 4, once these signings are made then that is confirmation.

You're probably on the right lines there TNMW, although i reckon pardew must have other striker targets in mind. We need another body in up front, be it Carroll or someone else.

Aye, we'll have a few in the 'Carr File' that we can work on but i reckon the regime see an AC transfer as a masterstroke.
Just got to be patient and see what happens.

The interesting thing in these AC rumours is, what happens if the deal doesn't come off?

Many that abused him or spoke of their disgust for him have came out and said they'd welcome him back. Gonna be mighty strange having him line up against us again.

Sky say LFC agreed a loan but have moved the goal posts, further annoying the Carroll camp

My guess is Clodagh overstepped his remit, and has been hauled back by his bosses. Face saving a bit.

Not overly sure 'we' have any Carrs lined up or surely they would have gone for them...........AC smokescreen, unlikely in my opinion.
Can't see us going in for AC just to have a laugh at the scouse swine. Bit too complex for me, this one, assuming it's true.

Round 2 is about to start.

It's speculated that West Ham have offered £2million for a season loan plus another £16 million next Summer if they survive.
If this is true, we'll find out soon enough if our interest is genuine.

If past behaviours are to be considered, Ashley wont get into a bidding war, if West Ham are serious about it and have offered more then what we have offered or are prepared to offer then it will more then likely be West Ham that he ends up at,

Maybe they're hoying all their increased TV money in the basket for next Summer but regardless, i can see him staying in thief-land rather than go down there.

the lad wants to come home and win bak the number 9 shirt when cisse is sold in jan..

But its looking like he will be a liverpool player in the coming season unless the dippers get real and realise that they will not get £20m for him, and a 12mth loan with option to buy for £13/£17m the only way forward,...as pards suggested they will have to accept that they screwed up and take a huge loss on carroll, and move on
