Know how you feel Bob, just goes to show the power of forums and the character this place has. BBM was one of them for certain. It's easy to dettach places like this from the real world, the stigma of being forum nerds makes us hide behind usernames, but still, I still like to remember BBM as a friend

BBM will never be forgotten on here.

We joked in the past about forums being a 'pretend' world but they are not.

They are real to those that have met fellow posters, they are real to those that take the place serious.

We are in mourning for one of our own, a fellow supporter of the very thing that brings us to these meeting places. NUFC.

From this moment, i have retired the ToTT Quiz with Steve being the eternal champion.

The new quiz in his memory will start soon and be a regular feature again, if only to enjoy the same wit and banter that BBM was famous for.

The BowburnMag Memorial Quiz is born.

st-pedros-basin - 12/12/2011 17:45 He was only 33 or simething wasn't he? From our sunday footy ramblings he seemed to kick around in the same circles as me, even though I'm slightly older. Played with and knew a lot of lads from Monty and West Denton who I knew. I always had a suspicion that I probably knew him when I was growing up. Tragic
Aye, think he'd just turned 34, a few months ahead of me.

Haven't posted much lately but have lurked a bit and followed the Bowburn story.....never really conversed with him on here but like has already been said....the lad was solid, reasoned and far less likely to jump in with both feet than the likes of me. I read his story and just thought he's young he'll be fine in the long run............quite a shock to here this now.

The lad earned the respect of those who met him and will be sadly missed on here, what his family are going through doesn't bear thinking of.

I remember a few years ago a lad on another Mag site saying he had noticed a little blood in his jizz when enjoying relations with his lass. Hewas urged by everyone to see his doctor.....he was dead in 9 weeks from testicular cancer which had spread through his body.............32 years old and a pregnant wife utterly shocking....R.I.P Nufcuntter

What awful news, never met the lad but feel like I knew him. He cut me plenty of slack when I perhaps didn't deserve it. I wish I could thank him for that, but it's too late now. They say you can tell a lot about a man by the friends he keeps. He seems to have a lot of good friends on here, that says everything about him.

Sleep tight

He was only 34 i think... His life was cut short but wasn't a waste because he brought a great angle to this board.
An angle that will never be forgotten but copied as best as it can by many.

BBM posted on many forums and blogs over the years. The tributes paid on the NUFCBlog were touching to say the least and included some from his closest mates.

RIP.

Yet another good write up for Bowburn from NUFCblog.

http://www.nufcblog.org/2011/12/in-memory-of-steve-the-bowburn-mag/...

Only read a couple of the articles listed, but the 9th one about the breakfast trip to boro was a great read. His entire personality comes right through.

I cant believe this! Ive been busy moving amongst other things so havent been around here much the past couple months, and to read this.... very saddening. Cant say I knew him personally but I defo respect everyone on here and have always enjoyed the people involved in this forum and I always thought very highly of his thoughts and opinions. In fact, some of my favorite readings on here were some of the stories and jokes he would tell. RIP Mr BBM, I hope you are in a better place.

Looking forward to giving him a great send off tomorrow, dunno what the plans are for his collection but was speaking to one of his mates who is heavily involved in the funeral and he thought the idea of a tankard was a great idea, as a remembrance item for the family? No worries if the plans are in place I just thought I'd let those organising know. Will maybe get to say hi to a few of you tomorrow, I'm the big skinhead.

He's laid to rest later today but his memory lives on, on this forum.. Im gonna keep his old avatar in tribute.

He's a massive miss on here and the whole episode surely brings the need for us to have a proper gathering. As Westwood says on another thread, he hadn't met the lad, so felt wrong about going. There's jokers on here but there's genuine characters also. Maybe for 2012 we can get something off the ground.
