Very sad indeed, events like this do put everything else into perspective. He seemed to be the type of man who put others before himself with his charity work etc. What a sad loss.

Condolences to his family and friends.

I'm at work in a daze today following the news , but have a smile on my face thinking about the first time I met Steve . We had arranged to meet at The Forth for a pre match pint (neither of us knew what the other looked like) so I decides to phone him in the bar and it turns out he was standing right next to me (what a pair of twats we must've looked !

He had such a positive outlook on life nothing was too big a challenge for him.
Think thats why its hit me so hard, you just expected him to pull through.
It's eery bang on 2 years to the day i first met him that he's taken away.
Such a bloody waste.

Hahahah! Similar thing happened to us except there was a mad bloke in between us dressed like a weird hip hop clown or something. When we worked out who each other was we were laughing our tits off at how relieved that neither of us was the hip hop clown!

A top level 7 bloke through and through. So lets hope, even though they're now spread all over the place thanks to you know who, there'll be enough voices on Saturday to blast out "only one Stevie Thompson"

RIP BBM and thoughts and best wishes to your family.

Gobsmacked!

I'm another who never met him but always enjoyed his posts & rational way of
dealing with things/posters on here. Sad sad loss. Can't even begin
to think how devastated his wife & family will be.

A top poster & top lad from what I know & all other accounts of him.

To say he'll be missed is an understatement.

R.I.P Steve(BowburnMag).

5000500050001000100252525
keep expecting him to come on with some tragic line like "rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated" and then proceed to tell us how watching perch play at centreback is like watching a golfer with one leg using a club that's six times as long as a normal one....

obviously i can't quite capture it, but that's why he was special.

He was only 33 or simething wasn't he? From our sunday footy ramblings he seemed to kick around in the same circles as me, even though I'm slightly older. Played with and knew a lot of lads from Monty and West Denton who I knew. I always had a suspicion that I probably knew him when I was growing up.
Tragic

This came like a bolt from the blue today, was having a quick scan of newsnow on my break and there was a post title saying rip bowburnmag, this is terrible news and I feel desperately sad for his family, bad enough that he's had a long battle with illness to then have him pass this close to such a family orientated holiday. It's funny, I've never met him but we'd tentatively posted about meeting up when I was due to come north in the new year, it's odd how you grow to view some people that you communicate with years on an internet forum - he seemed one of those who are who they seem, no frills and no bullshit. What really shook me is how this fits following a year when he achieved such a monumental and extremely physical achievement with his charity bike ride, thank you for reminding me how precious life is and how important it is to live each day to the fullest bbm and thank you for all the banter and laughs. Deeply saddened by this and my heartfelt condolences to all those near and dear.

I think we should do something on the banner in his memory. Lets face it he appears to have touched a lot of us here, and he was the backbone of this forum for a good few years.
Plenty of time, lets wait until its all sunk in but I think his forever name attached to this site in some way would be fitting

Totally fucking gutted at this news

The nicest bloke that i never met and talked a lot of sense, spent about 2 hours one night on here teaching me how to post youtube clips he was actually taking the piss out of me by the end but in his own style so no offence was taken. My sympathy goes to his family and friends, he is a loss to this board but an even bigger loss to them. It hits home even more because my brother had the same condition as him and thankfully survived but i had told BBM not to worry and he would be fine total fucking fail on my part. I am with Carlos it makes you realise that you have to live for the moment and try and enjoy every minute of life.

RIP Bowburmag you will be missed.

I am absolutely floored.. checking the banter on my break from work and couldn't have been more gutted seeing this thread. You were one of the posters on the previous TOTT that made my decision to sign up and have a few laughs an easy one... Never met any of you on here, but honestly consider the most I have conversed with to be 'cyber mates'. Rest in Peace Steve.
