cant have Hurricanes this far north chops. They are groups of Tropical storms that join up to create 1 big storm.
We can have ex hurricanes though.

Normal weather does nothing for me, it's the extremes and unexpected 10 days out that rock my boat. The ones Joe public doesn't find out about until T48 from the media.

I was looking through one of the links you've provided on here in the past and I looked ahead at what's predicted and it's supposed to get unusually mild in January.

Not sure how accurate that is but the snow and ice is less welcome than the wind for me, although I hate the twat as well.

Totally inaccurate as is anything more than 10 days out regardless of who issues it.
We do look at the jet and Northern Hemisphere charts as they are the game changers when it comes to what will happen here down the line.
At present we have a volatile Jetstream sucking lows from Canada and the US eastern seaboard. This looks likely right through until the 2nd week of Jan for now.
we wont get a 2010 scenario with the jet so strong and in it's current position. It's mathematically impossible.
Once the Jetstream heads south it opens the door to everything to our North.

Things are moving up a height, wet and windy for the next 10 days. Then the Vortex splits where she plunges her cold no one knows just yet.
I feel a distinct change in the air mid Jan.

High ground only I think chops Alston,Nenthead and the usual places up there. No sign of this jet slowing down just yet so mild wet and windy continues.
we may get a light dusting but it wont last.

It aint the American vortex Toon, It belongs to itself over the pole. Now and then it disrupts and flings a chunk southwards, just happens this bit landed over the U.S. as what happened to us here in 2010.This next round of cold is coming from the east and as it hits the milder moist air over us can only mean snow for the UK.
maybe as early as Sunday night looking at the outputs.
