Woody Return?

Woody Return?

Once again there reports this morning linking Jonathan Woodgate with a move back to Newcastle. Yet it is all news to Freddy Shepherd who knows nothing about it.

Woodgate left the club for the Bernabeu Stadium in August 2004, but Shepherd did say in the summer: 'if ever he came back to England we would be interested'. Shepherd even said the player could join United on loan to rebuild his strength and match experience.

A Newcastle spokesman: “The stories in the morning papers certainly came as a surprise to us. Jonathan looks to be enjoying his time in Spain, and we certainly haven't heard anything from Real Madrid, so it would seem the reports are just speculation. He is someone who was very popular with staff and fans alike during his time at Newcastle, and as a person, he's always welcome any time he wants to visit St. James'.”
