Alvaro set for medical

Confirmation comes from Setenta Sports News that Alvaro is set to undertake a medical at the club and hopefully sign for us after completing the formalities and sorting out cash wrangles with Levante. A three-year contract awaits the centre back, who still has a few cash issues to resolve with his present employers but is looking forward to a pre-deadline switch.

'I will pass the medical tests today and, if everything goes well, I will sign my new contract with Newcastle. I am very pleased with the opportunity to play in England. At other times, offers from The Premier League came up but were never finalised. Newcastle are an historic club and I am going to work to help them do everything they can. I know that they are not doing well in the table but, in both the last two years, I have been fighting with Levante to stay up so I am used to battling.'

He looks a good player i just hope he's not the only player we get in in this window. We had a few bad games with arsenal and scored no goals something needs to be done. Whens Martins back???

If we really want them (Barnes,Alvaro) surely money shudnt be the issue ??? I no we dont wanna spend over the odds but theres potential in barnes so why not make an improved offer? especially after jewell is willing to release him. maybe 4 million? WE ARE FCKING SHORT OF NUMBERS!! AND WOTS WITH THE MEDIA PLAYIN US DOWN.. ITS ONLY BEEN 2 WEEKS.. IF ANYTHING THE TEAM HAS BEEN SHORTENED WITH INJURY AND THE ACN CUP. ARSENAL TWICE AWAY DOESNT HELP!
