'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wise flies to Magpies

In the last few minutes Sky Sports have announced that NUFC have agreed a compensation package with Leeds United to take Dennis Wise to Tyneside as our new fangled Director of Football. Quite what this entails is a mystery to us but Leeds United released the following statement:

"We have agreed a compensation package with Newcastle United for the services of our manager Dennis Wise and he will part company with the club on Tuesday January 29 after completing the preparations for our game at Southend United that evening.

Newcastle had approached us for permission to speak with Dennis on Friday and since then things have happened very quickly. We will always be grateful to Dennis for the way he has turned things around at the club on the playing side and he goes with our best wishes for the future.

We are not prepared to comment on the inevitable speculation that will now follow about who will replace Dennis. That is not the way we do our business at this club.'

Do you feel the addition of Wise is a shrewd move or a waste of money for the alleged 1m a year salary. Feel free to vote in the poll and comment below.

Good move. Takes the pressure off Keegan to maintain youth developments.

He was doing well at Leeds i didnt expect him to leave. Hopefully he will do a good job taking the pressure off KK. Good move overall.

Not a bad move but I wonder what KK thinks given it's a Mort/Ashley appointment.

I just hope KK doesn't feel he's being micro-managed/sidelined with the whole thing.

Surprised to read this but could be a wise move,if nothing else he is a good motivator and can get the team playing well.

Wise isn't going to have any input to the playing staff MFC67, purely scouting and youth development.

Matt - don't believe the bull**** in the papers. The cockney press are hyping up everything to do with the club and we wish they'd just **** off and give us some space to rebuild.

First big mistake by the Board you don't undermine a new manager in his first week. No doubt they are getting ready for when KK walks AGAIN !!!
