'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Salty on the saviour

Speaking to the Chronicle today a former player of King Kev`s outlined just how much of a positive effect he believes Special K will have on the side and what a shock it is to see him back.

"It is a bit of a shock still to be honest, but Kevin never actually said no to coming back. Once he said what he did earlier in the week it probably left us wondering. Yet I was still stunned when the news filtered through. When I knew Kevin wanted me as a player a few years back I could not wait to sign for Newcastle. Hopefully, it will be similar now he is back.

He was a great player at Liverpool and when I met him for the first time it was overwhelming. We then went on to win the First Division Championship with an attacking style of football. When Kevin wants you as a player it is an easy decision to make because of the style of football he plays.

It is a good decision to go for Kevin. It will have an uplifting effect on the players and Newcastle need that. It is a positive thing all round."
