'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alan Oliver - journo in the know!

Spare a thought for poor old Alan Oliver. Long deemed a running joke by our fans for his favoured quotes of "wide of the mark" and "past the post", his status at the Chronicle has now reached comic parody level after his efforts to predict the next manager.

Starting off with a run on Redknapp that was so "past the post" that the Chronicle even ran 'Harry is the next boss` style stories on early editions, he then had Hughes set to come in. Only today he predicted the return of a Shearer-Houllier dream team.

Funny it was then that just four hours after he penned that Kevin Keegan was announced our new manager.

To quote some big hitters from Skunkers, Oliver was left tucked, laced and battered. Time to step down now Alan.

A loveable rogue. I think Alan needs to lock himself in a darkened room, throw the key out of the window and put his 'Newcastle insiders' out their misery. No wonder Souness changed his mobile number.
