How can the Loony Toons recover?
Just what the 'Doc' ordered, a managerless Newcastle side with a trip to the Theatre of Dreams to face Ronaldo and co. No doubt Ronaldo will be licking his lips at facing what is still one of the most fragile defences in the Premier League even without Titus Bramble, and so will Hills' customers with their offer for this match.
As if to echo Big Sam being sent packing this week, if Rob Styles gives any of the Toons their marching orders against Man Utd then William Hill will add 20% to all winning first goalscorer bets and refund all losing bets on that market. Mr Styles' record makes promising reading for this fantastic offer having handed out 5 red cards this season, 3 of which have been given to Man Utd opponents.
Highlights in the first goalscorer betting include the aforementioned Ronaldo (7/2), who is on a hot streak of goalscoring form with 19 goals in his last 20 matches for Man Utd and Wayne Rooney (7/2), who has scored seven league goals in eight starts against the Magpies, which will no doubt cast further gloom upon Tyneside after they tried desperately to sign the England man from Everton before his big money move to Old Trafford. Rooney's strike partner for the national side, Michael Owen (which surely will be Capello's favoured pairing) can be backed at 12/1 to upset the prawn sandwich brigade and no doubt make the Toon Army herald a new era and a return to their rightful status in English football, albeit very briefly, under the caretaker boss Nigel Pearson!
In the 90 minutes market Man Utd are unsurprisingly overwhelming favourites with William Hill and can be backed at 2/9, the draw 19/5 and a shock away win can be backed at 9/1. However, for better value Man Utd can be backed at 4/7 to won both halves and perhaps for even better value a scorecast bet, possibly a repeat of last week's 2-0 victory with Ronaldo scoring first at 16/1.
