Roeder in cheeky Harper bid

In one of his final acts as Newcastle manager it turns out that Sam Allardyce rejected an approach from Norwich for goalkeeper Steve Harper. United boss Glenn Roeder tried to buy Harper on Wednesday and take him to Carrow Road in a permanent move. But Roeder was knocked back in his attempts by Allardyce - just like had a couple of days earlier when he asked his successor if he could take Shola Ameobi on loan. Who next for Roeder - Andy Carroll per chance?

Glenn's certainly a trier - perhaps he picked up a few tricks from 'Arry Redknapp? He's ruled out a move for Carroll already, so you can keep that lad. Looks like 'Arry could be next for you boys, get ready for a real transfer frenzy!
