The striker, who has by his own standards, suffered a wishy-washy 2007, is still alleged to have the £13m release clause in his contract. Both clubs are said to have made official enquiries about the player.
Various rumours elsewhere speculate over the bid for Geromel, Shola to Boro, Emre to Bayern and the Nolan move.
