Allardyce on the job in hand

In an interview with the NOTW yesterday, Big Sam was adamamnt he was not going to quit his job anytime soon, giving our head honchos the unenviable task of having to fork out millions should they want to sack him.

"Why should I quit? It is 53 years since they won anything domestically here, so it is a big job to turn this club around. I said it would take me three to five years - and I have only been here eight months.

The whole world thinks we are going to get beaten at Stoke so we have to go there and use that as a motivational tool. We have to accept that pressure but it's in our hands. We can only relieve the pressure by winning.'

Fair play to the bloke - if I was sitting on a 10m contract I doubt I'd be quick to leave it.
