'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Barton chatter

Speaking to the Sunday Sun Joey Barton gave us another exciting update of his life as a Newcastle player. I pretty certain that if the lad spent the time he spent doing interviews on shooting practice we`d have the Scouse Kaka playing for us:

'There was no way in the world I thought coming here was going to be a bed of roses. In an ideal world it would run smoothly, but that never happens at any football club. And that type of adversity is all part of the challenge of turning this club around.

'My first challenge is to play well and score goals for this football club, but this is also a group of men who need inspiring. I have to step up to the plate. Hopefully there are seven or eight of us who will be thinking the same.'

Won´t it be fairly hard for him to "step up to the plate" and to score goals when he´s in the drunk tank?

Newcastle and England midfielder Joey Barton has been remanded in custody charged with assault. The 25-year-old is accused of common assault and affray and appeared before Liverpool magistrates following an incident in the city's Church Street. He was arrested on Thursday with his brother Andrew, 19, and Nadine Wilson, 27, from Huyton, Merseyside. The player will reappear on 3 January and misses Newcastle's matches against Chelsea and Manchester City.
