'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bowyer Pledge

Lee Bowyer has insisted his failure to manouver a move back to London in the January transfer window will not weigh heavy on his mind. He is a Newcastle player, and as long as the Magpies pay his wages he will give as much effort as any other player.

It is almost certain Bowyer will finally leave Newcastle in the summer, but he claimed that would make no difference to his attitude on the field of play.

Bowyer: 'There was a lot of speculation, but I had all this in the summer so it is nothing new to me. Nothing has changed, I have said this on numerous occasions. I will continue to give 100 per cent while I am a Newcastle player.

'I have been ill for the last two weeks so I haven't figured, but I gave my all the last time I played against Blackburn, and I did my best when I came off the bench against Portsmouth on Saturday.

'The speculation won't affect me. I only know one way to play, and that's to be fully committed for whoever I am playing for.'
